Key Highlights:
• Apollo Tyres and NATRAX have teamed up to establish a test track for EV tyres.
• This collaboration aims to aid EV manufacturers in testing and validating tyre durability.
• The test track will focus on evaluating the cut and chip resistance crucial for EVs.
• Apollo Tyres sees this investment as a means to accelerate tyre development, particularly for EVs.
• NATRAX's newly constructed test track is available for various vehicle types and tyre manufacturers.
Apollo Tyres collaborates with NATRAX to set up a test track to evaluate EV tyres. Apollo Tyres announced on Monday that it has partnered with NATRAX to establish a test track to approve tyres for electric vehicles. NATRAX is a testing and validation services provider.
The collaboration's goal is to establish a dedicated testing facility for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, allowing them to test and confirm the cut and chip resistance of tyres. Because of their unique properties, such as regenerative braking and high-speed acceleration, EVs require tyre cut and chip resistance evaluation.
Apollo Tyres President (Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa), Satish Sharma, stated that by investing in the facility, the company will be able to accelerate the development of tyres for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), particularly for EVs, as well as low rolling resistance tyres specifically designed for Indian roads, taking into account the country's unique road conditions and climate.
NATRAX Director Manish Jaiswal stated that the newly constructed test track is accessible to passenger automobiles, commercial vehicle OEMs, and tyre makers.
NATRAX, located near Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the automotive testing and certification centres managed by NATRiP, the Ministry of Heavy Industries' flagship project.
