Tata Motors offers yet another CNG Truck option in the 10-12T gross vehicle weight category of intermediate commercial vehicles. The increasing competition in the ICV category in the overall commercial vehicle truck industry has driven OEMs to create highly valuable, feature-packed, and top trucks.

Tata Motors is a market leader in the segment, and it is doing everything it can to maintain that position with a highly appealing product portfolio. Tata Motors' popular ICV platform truck with a CNG powerplant is the Tata 1109g LPT.

The evolution of commercial-grade trucks, such as the Tata 1109 g LPT, is fascinating in every way because, just a few years ago, developments in the vehicle, such as the integration of first-in-class features such as a Reverse Parking Buzzer, GSA, and Music System with Fast USB charger, among others, seemed to be reserved for cars and not trucks.

Interestingly, the evolution of commercial vehicles such as the Tata 1109 g LPT appears imminent today because they are perfect examples of trucks built with advanced vehicular engineering that seemed impossible a decade ago, such as BS6 technology and pollution control features, which remained a distant dream for both manufacturers and operators.

This truck is not only better for cargo duties, but it is also more environmentally friendly and less expensive to operate than the diesel counterpart. Let's take a closer look at the features, inside, exterior, and many more.

Exterior of Tata 1109g LPT

The exterior of the 1109g LPT appears identical to Tata Motors' distinctive ICV Trucks with the famed LPT cabin, and it comes with a sturdy built-all steel day cabin for increased safety. Customers can choose between cabin and body, closed body, high side deck, containers, and reefers depending on their needs.

The 8.25x16 - 16PR bias tyres have a broader tread surface which improves high-speed stability, less rolling resistance, better fuel efficiency, and higher mileage. The 1109g LPT has two wheelbase options of 3800 mm and 4920 mm. There are two load-body dimension options: 5217 x 2117 x 1822 and 6167 x 2117 x 1822 (mm). The fuel tanks have capacities of 300L and 430L.

Interior of Tata 1109g LPT

Tata Motors engineers worked hard to make the cabin pleasant and spacious and filled with features to make driving easier. Seat adjustment in the XZ direction lowers driver fatigue and improves overall driving comfort in a driver+1 seating configuration. The Melba fabric seats keep children cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

The tilt and telescopic steering allow for simple maneuvering in narrow lanes and crowded traffic, as well as the optimal driving position for comfort on extended journeys. A driver's delight is the four-spoke soft-touch steering wheel.

The new multi-functional instrument cluster includes a gear shift advisor, driver message screen, average fuel economy, and warning signals. A trip indicator, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, malfunction signal lamp, and screen navigation are all included.

A new dashboard with a music system with a high-quality Blaupunkt speaker and a high-speed USB charger for the driver is also included. A white illumination facia and ignition switch on the instrument cluster for easier access during night drives.

Performance of Tata 1109g LPT

Customers in the ICV category seek a truck that is highly productive, durable, and requires less maintenance. Tata Motors has demonstrated its mettle over the years by providing precisely the truck with the consumer desires while keeping all promises. Because of the increased competition in the segment, the corporation is not taking any chances of becoming complacent and allowing the competitor to take advantage.

To effectively compete and provide a compelling product to its loyal customer base, the 1109g LPT receives a modern powertrain comprised of a dependable BS6 engine with increased mileage. The 3.8L SGI engine produces 83hp and a maximum torque of 285 Nm. This new engine can provide 5.5% more torque over a wider rpm range. Low-end torque increased by 8%, resulting in higher mileage and better overall response from the start, as well as reduced driving strain due to little gear change.

For a comfortable driving experience, the engine is tuned to GB27, a 5-speed gearbox with five forward and one backward gear. The truck's front suspension features a semi-elliptical leaf spring with hydraulic double-acting telescopic shock absorbers, and the rear suspension features a semi-elliptical leaf spring. The clutch is 280 mm, single plate dry friction type, and the brakes are dual circuit full air S cam brakes with the auto slack adjuster in drum type, with gradeability of 23.0% and ground clearance of 217 mm for steep terrain and faster climbing capabilities.

Features of Tata 1109g LPT

The 1109g LPT BS6-compliant truck includes a slew of convenience features to make every trip easier and more productive. All current safety systems are included to ensure the driver, vehicle, and valuable goods within the truck are always safe.

The cabin is the most important section of the truck, thus it is solidly built and sturdy in all steel kinds to withstand any probable collision. Superior quality brakes for greater vehicle control, especially at full-load cargo, and very durable aggregates are just a few of the safety features of this truck.

Melba Fabric Seats for superior comfort in both summer and winter, Tilt and Telescopic Steering for ease maneuverability, Less Rolling Resistance tyres for fuel efficiency, and a Music System for amusement are among the features.

Furthermore, the truck has a New Instrument Cluster with features such as Gear Shift Advisor, Driver Message Screen, Average Fuel Economy, and Tell Tale Symbols for improved productivity and performance, as well as a High-Speed USB charging to keep you connected.

It comes with world-class safety components such as an auto shut-off valve, a high-pressure filter, a refuelling interlock system, an electronic viscous fan, and Swagelok fittings for improved safety and aggregate life. The truck also has superior traction-based tyres and a strong suspension for increased rigidity and reliability.

Conclusion

OEMs in trucks respond to customers' diverse freight applications and tonnage requirements. These vehicles frequently differ on minute details while sharing a common powerplant and many amenities. The only significant variation is that each truck in each segment is designed for the specific application or needs, with optimal power and aggregates.

The 1109g LPT is a promising vehicle appropriate for a variety of critical urban applications, with the promise of increased productivity and environmental friendliness thanks to the CNG powertrain. 1109g LPT is an ecologically safe and cost-effective ICV in the essential and rapidly increasing 10-12T area.
