PM Kisan Yojana rules changed. Farmers must have land registered in their own name by March 2026 to continue receiving ₹6,000 annual financial assistance.
PM KISAN Rule Change
PM Kisan Yojana Rule Change: These Farmers Will Stop Getting Benefits After March 2026

Key Highlights

  • PM Kisan benefits are linked to land ownership.

  • Mandatory land registration in the farmer’s name.

  • Deadline set till March 2026.

  • Ancestral land without documents is not eligible.

  • ₹6,000 annual aid may stop if the rules are not followed.

The central government has introduced a major rule change under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan Yojana). This update is very important for farmers across India who are currently receiving scheme benefits. As per the new rule, only farmers whose land records and land revenue receipts are registered in their own name will continue to receive PM Kisan installments after March 2026.

What Is the New Rule Under PM Kisan Yojana?

Under the revised guidelines, PM Kisan benefits will be given only to farmers who have legal ownership of agricultural land in their own name. This includes:

  • Land registration in the farmer’s name

  • Land revenue receipt (lagaan/rasid) issued in the farmer’s name

Farmers cultivating land registered in the name of their father, grandfather, or great-grandfather without having legal documents in their own name will no longer be eligible once the new rule comes fully into force.

Why Did the Government Tighten PM Kisan Rules?

According to Halsi Block Development Officer Sanjeev Kumar, the government received multiple complaints that people without legal land ownership were taking advantage of the PM Kisan Yojana. In many cases, land was registered in the name of elderly family members, while others were farming it and claiming government assistance.

To ensure that only genuine small and marginal farmers receive financial support, the government decided to strictly enforce land ownership verification.

Who Will Be Affected by This Change?

Farmers will lose PM Kisan benefits if:

  • The agricultural land is not registered in their own name

  • Land revenue receipts are issued in someone else’s name

  • They fail to update land documents before March 2026

Official notices have already been displayed at regional offices to inform farmers and encourage timely compliance.

What Do Farmers Need to Do Now?

Farmers currently receiving PM Kisan funds on inherited or family-owned land must:

  • Get the land registration transferred to their own name with family consent

  • Obtain land revenue receipts in their own name

  • Complete all documentation before March 2026

If these steps are completed within the given deadline, farmers will continue receiving PM Kisan installments without interruption.

What Will Happen After March 2026?

If a farmer does not complete land registration and revenue record updates by March 2026:

  • The annual PM Kisan assistance of ₹6,000 will be stopped

  • The farmer may need to reapply for the scheme, which can be lengthy and difficult

Officials are advising farmers not to delay and to complete the process well in advance.

Government’s Stand on the New PM Kisan Rules

The government has clarified that this decision is not meant to trouble farmers, but to improve transparency and prevent misuse. The goal is to ensure that PM Kisan benefits reach only eligible farmers who genuinely depend on agriculture.

Farmers are strongly advised to update their land records on time to avoid future issues and continue receiving financial support under the PM Kisan Yojana.

CMV360 Says

The new PM Kisan Yojana rule makes land ownership mandatory to continue receiving benefits after March 2026. Farmers cultivating ancestral land without legal documents in their own name must complete land registration and update land revenue records within the given deadline. This move aims to improve transparency and ensure that only genuine and eligible farmers receive the ₹6,000 annual assistance under the PM Kisan scheme.
