John Deere has launched its most powerful tractor in the Indian market. The new 130 HP heavy-duty tractor is priced at ₹65 lakh. This model targets large-scale mechanised farming and responds to rising demand for advanced agricultural machinery and alternative fuels like ethanol.
The tractor features connectivity solutions, 100% radial tyres, a Straight-Row Vehicle Guidance System, and a front hitch with PTO application. John Deere introduced these technologies during a display at its Pune facility on March 11, 2026.
John Deere India Private Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deere & Company, developed the 130 HP tractor specifically for the Indian market. The company claims it is the first in India to offer a tractor with these capabilities, while other firms import similar models.
Rajesh Sinha, Managing Director and Country Manager of John Deere India, stated that demand for tractors is increasing among independent farmers and businesspeople who rent farm equipment. He noted that the timing is right due to the growing interest in alternative fuels such as ethanol.
The company’s strategy focuses on integrating precision agriculture and digital solutions. These SMART connected machines help farmers increase productivity while using fewer resources. The new technologies aim to optimise field operations, reduce input costs, and support sustainable crop care.
John Deere operates two facilities in India with an annual production capacity of 1,40,000 tractors. The company exports 30% of its output to 110 countries. John Deere leads the Indian market for tractors above 50 horsepower and now aims to expand into lower-capacity models as well.
The launch of the 130 HP tractor strengthens John Deere’s position in the high-horsepower segment. The advanced features and guidance technologies are expected to meet the needs of modern farmers and agricultural contractors. This move supports the company’s goal to advance mechanised and precision farming in India.
