As part of its green mobility strategy, zingbus has started deploying electric intercity buses on select high-demand routes. Alongside this, the company has introduced bio-toilet systems across multiple services. These initiatives combine zero tailpipe emissions with improved hygiene standards and water conservation, making long-distance journeys cleaner and more comfortable for passengers.
According to zingbus, these sustainability measures have helped neutralise more than 593,000 kg of CO₂ emissions. The impact assessment was conducted in partnership with climate-impact organisation Climes. This environmental benefit is equivalent to planting 9,786 saplings grown over 10 years, avoiding 272,835 days of household electricity consumption, and diverting 25,207 bags of waste from landfills through recycling.
Commenting on the initiative, Prashant Kumar, Co-founder of zingbus, said that sustainability is being integrated into the core of intercity travel operations. He highlighted the company’s focus on turning environmental intent into measurable outcomes through electric buses, bio-toilets, and climate-positive practices.
Kumar further added that as India’s electric vehicle ecosystem continues to grow, zingbus will keep scaling solutions that cut emissions, conserve resources, and make greener intercity travel more accessible to passengers.
Zingbus is currently in advanced stages of deploying electric buses on major intercity corridors, including the Delhi–Amritsar route. This move showcases the practical use of electric mobility for long-distance travel, extending beyond city limits into high-demand intercity networks.
With state-level EV policies supporting cleaner transportation, zingbus is aligning its route planning and operational decisions with long-term sustainability goals. Environmental considerations are being embedded into daily operations to ensure that growth in intercity travel does not come at the cost of the environment.
Through these initiatives, zingbus continues to position itself as a key player in driving greener, more responsible intercity mobility in India.
