Tsuyo Manufacturing received approval to build a ₹250 crore electric vehicle powertrain facility in Karnataka. The 20-acre campus will create over 500 jobs and support advanced powertrain manufacturing for multiple EV segments.
The new facility will manufacture electric traction motors, motor controllers, power electronics, and drivetrain systems. It aims to serve multiple electric vehicle segments, including three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and industrial mobility applications. The investment follows a Letter of Intent signed with the Karnataka government in November 2025 at the Bengaluru Tech Summit. Regulatory clearance was granted within four months by the State-Level Single Window Clearance Committee.
Tsuyo plans to build the campus in two phases. The first phase will support powertrain platforms up to 250 kW and voltage architectures up to 650V. The second phase will expand capacity to powertrains of up to 1,100 kW with high-voltage architectures reaching 850V DC. The facility will feature integrated assembly lines, advanced testing laboratories, and a dedicated open test track for commercial-vehicle powertrain validation.
The project is projected to create more than 500 engineering and technical jobs over the next three years. Positions will focus on electric motor design, power electronics engineering, and drivetrain systems development. Tsuyo’s leadership stated that the facility will enable the company to supply high-power, high-voltage powertrain solutions to both domestic and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The phased development approach is intended to scale Tsuyo’s integrated powertrain technology capabilities. The company also aims to strengthen India's domestic electric mobility ecosystem and reinforce its commitment to localized manufacturing. Several Karnataka state bodies, including Invest Karnataka and the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, have facilitated the project. This aligns with Karnataka’s strategy to attract EV-related manufacturing investments, a policy also pursued by Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Maharashtra.
Tsuyo Manufacturing, based in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, currently operates two manufacturing facilities in the state. It produces electric motors and controllers ranging from 0.5 kW to 350 kW, and has sold over 200,000 motors to more than 50 OEMs. The company’s portfolio covers three-wheelers, light and heavy commercial vehicles, and off-road applications, with a focus on mid-drive electric motors. Tsuyo collaborates with institutions such as IITs, NITs, and international universities for research and development.
India’s EV sector has seen increased domestic component manufacturing, driven by government incentives like the Production Linked Incentive scheme and the phased manufacturing programme for electric vehicles. The Hubli-Dharwad Industrial Corridor is a key zone for manufacturing investment, offering land and infrastructure support to attract companies in sectors including electronics and aerospace.
The Hubli-Dharwad facility will mark Tsuyo’s first major manufacturing expansion outside Uttar Pradesh and represents one of Karnataka’s largest single-site EV powertrain investments to date.
