TGSRTC awards Olectra unit EVEY a Rs 1,800 crore contract for 1,085 electric buses under a 12-year GCC model for intra-city services in Telangana.
1,085 electric buses ordered by TGSRTC.
Contract value around Rs 1,800 crore.
12-year GCC / OPEX model agreement.
1,025 non-AC and 60 AC 12m buses.
Delivery planned over 20 months.
In a major boost to electric public transport, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has awarded a large contract for electric buses to Evey Trans Private Limited (EVEY), a unit of Olectra Greentech Limited.
The total contract is valued at around Rs 1,800 crore for Olectra and covers the supply, operation, and maintenance of 1,085 electric buses for intra-city services across Telangana.
On February 23, 2026, EVEY received two Letters of Award from TGSRTC for deploying electric buses within city limits in Telangana.
The order includes:
1,025 twelve-metre non-AC electric buses
60 twelve-metre AC electric buses
These buses will be used for daily urban transport, strengthening the state’s clean mobility network and reducing emissions in cities.
The project will be executed under a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) / OPEX model for a period of 12 years.
Under this structure:
EVEY will supply, operate, and maintain the buses.
The transport corporation will retain control over routes and fare collection.
The operator will be paid a fixed rate per kilometre.
This model has become the standard for large public bus tenders in India. It shifts the financial responsibility of vehicle procurement and maintenance to the operator while ensuring predictable and stable services for the transport authority.
EVEY will procure all 1,085 buses from Olectra Greentech. Olectra will also be responsible for maintenance during the 12-year contract period.
The buses are scheduled to be delivered over 20 months, requiring phased deployment across cities. The rollout will involve parallel development of charging infrastructure and depot readiness, making the project both a large-scale procurement and a major logistical operation.
The transaction between Olectra and EVEY falls under the category of related party transactions. However, it will be conducted on an arm’s length basis, ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.
It is also confirmed that the promoter or promoter group has no interest in TGSRTC, the awarding authority.
This 1,085-bus order highlights the growing scale of intra-city electric bus deployment in India. Unlike earlier projects that focused on smaller pilot fleets, this contract reflects full-scale adoption of electric mobility in public transport.
With phased integration over 20 months, the Telangana project marks a significant step toward cleaner, sustainable urban transportation and strengthens the shift toward electric buses in India’s public transport system.
The 1,085 electric bus order from TGSRTC to Olectra’s EVEY marks one of the largest intra-city e-bus deployments in Telangana. Valued at Rs 1,800 crore and structured under a 12-year GCC model, the project strengthens clean urban mobility. With phased delivery over 20 months and integrated charging infrastructure planning, this contract reflects the rapid expansion of electric public transport across Indian cities.
