Tata Motors Received India’s First Auto PLI Certificate by ARAI in N1 Vehicles Category

The PLI scheme was first introduced in 2021 and over 115 companies in India including Tata Motors had filed for it. The PLI certificate signifies the exceptional contribution made by Tata Motors in the industry.

India's first-ever Auto PLI Certificate is awarded to Tata Motors by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The certificate represents the hard work and efforts of Tata Motors in manufacturing their commercial vehicles.

Tata Motors, one of the leading and largest manufacturers in India, received India’s first Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certificate from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in the N1 (4-wheeled goods vehicles) category. This certificate represents the outstanding work done by Tata Motors in manufacturing the four-wheeled goods transporting vehicles.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is an automotive research and development organisation. ARAI experts research and test vehicles of all the different manufacturers present in India and evaluate their quality, safety and performance. They honour the selected manufacturers for their excellent achievements in the automotive industry. The PLI certificate signifies the exceptional contribution made by Tata Motors in the industry.

Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certificate

The PLI scheme was first introduced in 2021 and over 115 companies in India including Tata Motors had filed for it. The PLI scheme was launched to overcome the cost disabilities, build a solid supply chain and generate employment in industry. The scheme includes commercial vehicles made for goods transportation. The certificate is only awarded to companies that meet the strict criteria laid by the ARAI. Tata Motors achieved its goals with its best quality N1 (4W Goods) vehicles.

The Auto R&D body, on its official social media handle, said, “ARAI reaches a significant professional milestone! We proudly award the First Auto PLI certificate in N1 Category (4W - Goods) to M/s Tata Motors Ltd., following the meticulously defined SOP of the Automotive PLI scheme by @MHI_Gol (Ministry of Heavy Industries).’’

The PLI scheme was supposed to be active for five years from FY 2022-23 to FY 2026-27 but it has been extended by the Central Government. The PLI scheme is now active till FY 2027-28 and all the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can avail its benefits.
