Tata Motors has launched 17 new commercial trucks across internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric platforms, marking one of its largest portfolio refreshes in recent years. The new range covers payload capacities from 7 to 55 tonnes and is designed to meet the growing demand for safer, cleaner, and more efficient logistics in India.
As part of this launch, Tata Motors introduced the all-new Azura series and upgraded its existing Prima, Signa, and Ultra truck platforms. These trucks now feature modern cabins designed to meet European ECE R29-03 crash safety norms, improving driver protection and overall road safety.
The updated cabins are built to handle frontal, rollover, and side-impact crashes. They also come with up to 23 India-specific active safety features, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning systems, making them among the safest trucks in the segment.
The Azura range is powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine, offering strong performance and high fuel efficiency. It is available in 7 to 19-tonne configurations and is suitable for multiple applications such as e-commerce, FMCG distribution, construction material transport, agriculture, industrial goods movement, and intercity and regional logistics.
According to Tata Motors, these trucks allow fleet owners to carry up to 1.8 tonnes of additional payload. The improved engine and drivetrain technology can also reduce fuel consumption by up to 7%, helping operators lower running costs and increase overall profitability.
On the electric mobility front, Tata Motors introduced the Tata Trucks.ev brand, built on the new I-MOEV architecture. The electric lineup includes the Ultra EV range for urban and regional operations, the Prima E.55S electric prime mover for heavy-duty transport, and the Prima E.28K electric tipper for mining and construction work.
With this launch, Tata Motors electric truck portfolio now also spans 7 to 55 tonnes, supporting applications across city logistics, long-haul transport, mining, and infrastructure projects.
Commenting on the launch, Girish Wagh, Executive Director and Head of Commercial Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, stated that India’s trucking sector is undergoing rapid transformation due to supportive government policies, infrastructure development, and the growing demand for safer and cleaner transportation solutions.
He highlighted that the new Azura range, advanced powertrains, European-spec safety cabins, and the wide electric truck portfolio are designed to improve vehicle uptime, reduce ownership costs, and deliver better returns for fleet operators.
With this comprehensive update, Tata Motors aims to strengthen its leadership in the commercial vehicle market while supporting the shift towards safer and more sustainable trucking in India.
