The Hinduja Group's flagship company and India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland, delivered 150 trucks and buses to the Tanzania Police Force. The vehicles were handed over to the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Police Head Quarters, in Dar Es Salaam. Jumanne Abdallah Sagini, Hon. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs received the vehicles in the presence of other delegates present from the police force.
The supplies are part of a contract signed between Ashok Leyland and Tanzania's Ministry of Home Affairs and are funded by a long-term soft from the Government of India's Export-Import Bank.
The vehicles delivered by the Ashok Leyland include Police Staff Buses, 4X4 Police Troop Carriers, ambulances, recovery trucks, and other logistic vehicles for the Police support services. The Tanzania Police Force currently operates a fleet of 625 Ashok Leyland vehicles. These 625 vehicles include 150 new vehicles and 475 Ashok Leyland vehicles already in service with the Tanzanian Police Force across the country. This is expected to increase the overall efficiency of the Police Force, ensuring the safety and security of the public throughout the country.
Jumanne Abdallah Sagini, Deputy Minister, thanked the Indian government and Ashok Leyland for delivering the vehicles to the Tanzanian Police Force, saying, "India has always been a valuable partner in Tanzania's growth, and we will continue working together for the mutual benefit of the two countries."
H.E. Binaya S. Pradhan, Honourable Indian Ambassador, spoke on the occasion. "India and Tanzania are two of the oldest friends, having been together for over 60 years."
Mr Amandeep Singh, President of Ashok Leyland, expressed gratitude to the Hon'ble Indian High Commissioner for providing this funding from India and providing support for the project's execution, saying, He also praised the Tanzanian government for its confidence in Ashok Leyland as a logistic partner and expressed his desire to strengthen the relationship.
