SwitchLabs to commission 52 electric trucks by November, starting with Tata Prima E.55S EVs at JK Lakshmi Cement plants, promoting sustainable and cleaner transport in India.

Key Highlights:

SwitchLabs, a new player in India’s sustainable transport sector, has announced plans to commission 52 electric trucks by November 2025. These trucks will be operated under long-term contracts of eight to ten years, serving various industrial clients and promoting cleaner freight movement nationwide.

Tata Prima E.55S EV Joins SwitchLabs Fleet

In its first phase, SwitchLabs has procured two Tata Prima E.55S EVs, configured as electric bulkers. The company has already deployed the first unit at the JK Lakshmi Cement plant in Durg, Chhattisgarh, to transport fly ash, a key raw material used in cement production.

The Tata Prima E.55S EV is a 55-tonne 4×2 electric truck built for heavy-duty applications in sectors such as cement, steel, power, and mining. It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers 470 kW of power and 2,455 Nm of torque, paired with a three-speed auto shift transmission for smoother operation and higher efficiency.

Tata Motors offers this electric truck with two LFP battery pack options, 300 kWh and 450 kWh, providing ranges of 220 km and 350 km, respectively. While SwitchLabs has not revealed which configuration it has chosen for the first batch, all upcoming 50 trucks will also be 55-tonne 4×2 electric tractors, though not necessarily all Tata models.

Expanding Operations Across Cement and Chemical Plants

According to Ajay Singh, Co-founder and CEO of SwitchLabs, the company plans to deploy additional electric trucks at another JK Lakshmi Cement plant in Sirohi, Rajasthan. Together, these two cement plants will account for 25 of the total 52 electric trucks.

The remaining 27 electric trucks will be distributed across two more industrial sites, including one for a chemical manufacturer. Further details about these deployments will be announced soon.

Future Growth Plans

SwitchLabs current expansion is just the beginning. The company expects its electric truck fleet to grow to 55–60 units by December 2025, and it aims to more than double the number to over 150 electric trucks by March 2026.

By steadily building a large fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks, SwitchLabs aims to reduce carbon emissions, cut logistics costs, and support India’s transition to cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions.
