Allison Transmission is the world's leading producer of fully automatic gearboxes for medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, as well as a pioneer in hybrid-propulsion systems for the city buses. Allison's recent success in the WBMD application promises a $100 million annual revenue opportunity.
The SKT105 truck will transport ore and overburden, which is the rock or soil layer that must be removed in mining fields to gain access to the ore. The Allison 4000 Series transmission is specifically intended for the rough-duty cycles that vehicles face in harsh mining locations. When compared to manual and other automatic transmissions, SANY and Allison will give improved vehicle performance and production.
"Allison's partnership with SANY has reached a new milestone with this expansion into a new geographic market for our purpose-built transmission for mining applications," said Kartik Ramanan, Executive Director, Global Off-Highway, Customer Support, and Service Engineering, Allison Transmission.
Both firms want to build combined success in the Chinese wide-body truck industry to create an ecosystem of innovation and growth in the rapidly rising Indian market. The goal is to give a differentiated value proposition to clients by providing a trustworthy and durable gearbox that enhances driver comfort and lowers the total cost of ownership through increased productivity and uptime.
"Our latest collaboration with Allison demonstrates SANY's global scale and commitment to expanding our reach to new end markets," Deepak Garg, Managing Director, SANY Group India and South Asia, stated.
