The India Meteorological Department (IMD)has issued a comprehensive weather alert for the week of May 7 to May 12, warning of rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, gusty winds, and heatwaves across various parts of the country. A combination of western disturbances and cyclonic circulations will drive this weather activity, affecting the Northwest, Central, Eastern, Southern, and Northeastern regions.

Between May 7 and May 12, states in Northwest India like Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. Some areas may also experience hailstorms and thundersqualls.
May 7:
Isolated hailstorms in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand (40–60 kmph gusts)
Thundersqualls in East Rajasthan (60–80 kmph gusts)
Isolated heavy rain in East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand
May 7–12:
Light to moderate rain in the entire region with gusts up to 60 kmph
Gujarat, Maharashtra, and the Konkan coast will face heavy rains, hailstorms, and very strong winds.

Hailstorm in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada (50–70 kmph gusts)

States like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh will see thunderstorms, hailstorms, and a sharp temperature rise.

Heavy rainfall in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, and Nicobar (30–60 kmph gusts)
Hailstorm and thundersqualls in East and West MP, and Bihar (60–80 kmph gusts)
May 8–10:
Rain and thunderstorms in East MP, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha (40–60 kmph gusts)
May 10–12:
Heatwave conditions in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal
Southern states, including Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, are expected to receive consistent rain and thunderstorms, with chances of hail and gusty winds.

Rain with thunderstorms in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Telangana (30–50 kmph gusts)
Hailstorms and thundersqualls in Telangana and Rayalaseema (50–60 kmph gusts)
Heavy rainfall in Coastal Andhra Pradesh
May 9–10:
Heavy rainfall in Kerala and Mahe
The northeastern region will receive continuous rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

Light to moderate rainfall across the entire region (30–50 kmph gusts)
Heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya
Thundersquall in Assam and Meghalaya on May 7 (50–60 kmph gusts)
Heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh on May 7, 10, and 11
Residents in Delhi NCR can expect cloudy skies, light rain, and thunderstorms over the next few days, with temperatures staying below normal until May 9.

The IMD has predicted cooling in western states and rising temperatures in the east, increasing heatwave risks.
