On Saturday, Gandhi's cavalcade came to a halt in the fields of Madina village in Sonipat's Baroda constituency. Initially, paddy transplanters did not recognize the politician. Nonetheless, their joy was apparent when Gandhi and his team approached them and joined them in their work.

JP Dalal, Haryana's Agriculture Minister, turned to Twitter to criticize Gandhi's meeting with farmers, claiming that one hour of work in 45-degree Celsius heat would have better illustrated the issues faced by the agricultural community. Dalal's tweet was intended to expose Gandhi's apparent lack of firsthand familiarity with agricultural problems.
