Piaggio Vehicles has announced that their Apé Electrik vehicles will be available in the Philippines. The Philippines will import the electric 3-wheelers, which will be manufactured at the PVPL facility in Baramati, Maharashtra.

The Ape E-City and Ape E-xtra vehicles will be equipped with Sun Mobility's battery-swapping technology. Notably, these will be the Philippines' first E3Ws, available through PHILIPPINERIMEX INC., a Rusco Motors subsidiary.

According to Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles, the OEM sees significant market export potential. "In 2019, we introduced the first 3W EV to India, and now in 2023, we are happy to be the first movers in this segment in the Philippines. For Piaggio Vehicles, entering the Philippines is a step toward accelerating the global adoption of EVs and a more sustainable planet," he said.

"We are pleased to further strengthen our association with Piaggio as we extend our partnership to the Philippines. We share the vision of smart, affordable urban electric mobility and are excited to jointly deploy our solution in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia first," said Ajay Goel, Co-Founder and Executive Director of SUN Mobility.
