Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced a major relief for paddy farmers in the state. Speaking at the state-level Paddy Festival held at the Seoni district headquarters, he said that paddy has now been included under the Bhavantar Yojana.

Under this scheme, if farmers sell their paddy at a price lower than the Minimum Support Price (MSP), the state government will pay the difference between the market price and the MSP. The compensation amount will be transferred directly to the farmers' bank accounts.

The Chief Minister said that the government is continuously working to increase farmers' income and make farming more profitable. He described farmers as the backbone of the state's economy and said that ensuring fair prices for their crops is one of the government's top priorities.

'Chhatriya Rice' Receives GI Tag

During the event, Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the famous Chhatriya Rice from the Mahakaushal region has received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

He said this recognition will give the traditional rice a unique identity in both national and international markets, creating better marketing opportunities for farmers. The Chief Minister also expressed happiness that Dindori's Sitahi Kutki, Nagdaman Kutki, and Purple Arhar have also received GI tags.

₹2.84 Crore Bonus for Shreeanna Farmers

The Chief Minister transferred financial assistance to beneficiaries of various government schemes through a single-click digital transfer during the program.

Under the Rani Durgavati Shreeanna Protsahan Yojana, the government released ₹2.84 crore as a bonus at the rate of ₹1,000 per quintal for Kodo-Kutki to 3,941 farmers.

He also announced that under the Chief Minister's Public Welfare (Sambal) Yojana, ex-gratia assistance worth ₹365 crore was transferred to more than 16,754 labour families.

Apart from this, Seoni district received 629 development projects worth ₹494.16 crore, including both newly inaugurated projects and foundation stone laying ceremonies.

Government Promotes Shreeanna and Millet Farming

The Chief Minister informed that the state government is working to give international recognition to Madhya Pradesh's Shreeanna under the "Narmada Millets" brand.

He also announced that a State Shreeanna Research Center is being established in Dindori to promote millet cultivation and research. For the financial year 2026-27, the government has set a target to procure 40,000 metric tonnes of Kodo-Kutki.

Electricity Connection for Farmers at Just ₹5

As part of the state's Farmer Welfare Year, the Chief Minister announced that farmers will be able to get electricity connections for only ₹5.

He also said that after the monsoon season, the government will make arrangements to provide daytime electricity for irrigation, helping farmers improve agricultural productivity.

To ensure transparency in fertilizer distribution, he stressed the need to strengthen the state's agritech system.

Keeping in mind the possible impact of El Niño, the Chief Minister advised farmers to grow water-efficient crops such as Kodo-Kutki, maize, sorghum, and millet, which require less water and can help protect production and income during changing weather conditions.

Chief Minister Joined Farmers in Paddy Plantation

One of the highlights of the Paddy Festival was when Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav personally joined farmers in the field and planted paddy.

During the plantation, local women welcomed the occasion by singing traditional paddy planting folk songs, in which the Chief Minister also participated.

He shared that soybean is widely grown in his region and that planting paddy was a new experience for him, which brought him great joy.

Later, at the invitation of farmer Daulatram Bisen from Lohara village, the Chief Minister sat on the edge of the field and enjoyed the traditional meal called Sidori. He appreciated the farmers hospitality, which included roti, jaggery, and pickle.

To spread the message of environmental conservation, he also planted a mango tree on the edge of the field.

Major Boost for Paddy Farmers and Agriculture

The Chief Minister's announcements are being seen as an important step for the farming community in Madhya Pradesh. The inclusion of paddy under the Bhavantar Yojana will provide financial security to farmers whenever market prices fall below the MSP.

Along with this, initiatives related to GI-tagged crops, millet promotion, electricity, irrigation, agricultural infrastructure, and research are expected to strengthen the state's agriculture sector while improving farmers income and long-term growth.
