India has achieved an important Make in India milestone with the handover of the country’s first indigenously manufactured runway cleaning machines to Noida International Airport Limited. The advanced airport safety vehicles were formally handed over by Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M. B. Patil, marking a major step toward self-reliance in aviation infrastructure.
The runway cleaning machines have been engineered and manufactured by Bengaluru-based Anlon Technology Solutions Limited under the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. The project involved technical collaboration with Switzerland-based Bucher Municipal, while the final assembly was completed at Anlon’s manufacturing facility in Adinarayanahosahalli near Doddaballapur, Karnataka.
This development significantly reduces India’s dependence on imported airport maintenance equipment and highlights the growing strength of domestic manufacturing in safety-critical aviation systems.
As part of the milestone event, two runway cleaning vehicles were officially delivered to Noida International Airport. The keys were handed over to airport representative Pradeep Rana, strengthening runway maintenance and safety operations at the upcoming international airport.
These machines are being described as the first runway cleaning vehicles to be manufactured within India, setting a new benchmark for indigenous aviation support equipment.
The newly inducted machines are designed for high-precision runway operations. They are capable of removing foreign object debris (FOD) such as nails, sharp metal fragments, and stones that pose serious risks to aircraft tyres and engines.
In addition, the vehicles can vacuum dust and clear organic buildup like algae, which helps improve runway friction. This directly enhances aircraft stability during take-offs, landings, and braking, reducing the risk of skidding and improving overall flight safety.
During the handover, Minister M. B. Patil highlighted the role of companies like Anlon Technology Solutions in strengthening India’s industrial and manufacturing ecosystem. He encouraged the company to explore export opportunities, supported by favourable government policies and Karnataka’s strong industrial base.
The upcoming Karnataka Industrial Policy 2025–30 is expected to offer targeted incentives and quality certification support, helping indigenous technologies scale globally. The project also reflects the growing contribution of MSMEs to India’s aviation supply chain and advanced infrastructure manufacturing.
Anlon Technology Solutions, which also manufactures mechanised street-sweeping and urban cleaning equipment, represents a new wave of Indian engineering firms entering high-value and safety-critical infrastructure segments.
The deployment of these runway cleaning vehicles at Noida International Airport underscores India’s capability to deliver world-class aviation safety solutions, reinforcing the country’s push toward modern, self-reliant, and globally competitive airport infrastructure.
