The LCV segment led the market with 59,379 units, driven by logistics demand.
MCV segment showed strong YoY growth of 25.50%, indicating rising industrial activity.
HCV sales dipped slightly MoM but grew 18.55% YoY due to infrastructure demand.
Tata Motors remained the market leader with 35.48% share, followed by Mahindra and Ashok Leyland.
India’s commercial vehicle (CV) retail market continued its growth momentum in March 2026, with total sales reaching 1,02,536 units, according to FADA Research. The market recorded 1.70% month-on-month (MoM) growth and a strong 15.12% year-on-year (YoY) increase, reflecting steady demand across logistics, infrastructure, and transportation sectors.

India’s commercial vehicle market stayed on a steady growth path in March 2026. As per FADA, total retail sales reached 1,02,536 units, showing a 1.70% month-on-month growth compared to February 2026.
On a yearly basis, the market grew by a strong 15.12%, highlighting healthy demand from logistics, infrastructure, and transport sectors. The slight monthly growth shows stable buying sentiment, while the strong YoY jump clearly reflects improving economic activity and fleet expansion across India.
The CV market saw mixed but positive trends across segments, with most categories showing growth.

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV): LCVs continued to dominate the market with 59,379 units sold. The segment grew 3.18% MoM and 11.99% YoY, driven by rising demand in e-commerce deliveries and small business transportation.
Medium Commercial Vehicles (MCV): MCVs recorded 8,326 units, registering 2.93% MoM growth and a strong 25.50% YoY increase. This shows improving demand from industrial logistics and regional cargo movement.
Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV): HCV sales stood at 34,775 units. While the segment saw a slight 1.00% MoM decline, it posted a solid 18.55% YoY growth, supported by infrastructure, mining, and long-haul freight demand.
Others: The ‘Others’ category remained small with 56 units sold, declining 1.75% MoM and 29.11% YoY, indicating limited contribution from niche segments.

Tata Motors Ltd continued to dominate the Indian CV market in March 2026 with 36,380 units sold, capturing a strong 35.48% market share. The company’s leadership remains solid due to its wide product range across LCVs and HCVs, making it a preferred choice for both small businesses and large fleet operators.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited maintained its strong position with 26,898 units sold and a 26.23% market share. With an additional 24,900 units from its second entry, Mahindra continues to perform well, especially in the pickup and small commercial vehicle segment, driven by rural and semi-urban demand.
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd sold 1,998 units, capturing 1.95% market share. The brand is steadily growing in the last-mile mobility space, supported by increasing adoption of electric three-wheelers.
Ashok Leyland Ltd reported 19,384 units, holding an 18.90% market share. Its second entry added 19,126 units, reflecting steady demand in medium and heavy commercial vehicles. The brand remains a strong player in long-haul and infrastructure-driven transportation.
VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd registered 8,417 units sold with a stable 8.21% market share. Its second entry contributed 8,361 units, showing consistent performance in light and medium-duty trucks, especially in the logistics sector.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd recorded 4,561 units sold with a 4.45% market share. Its performance continues to be driven by compact cargo vehicles, which are widely used in urban delivery operations.
Force Motors Limited posted 2,142 units, accounting for a 2.09% market share. The brand maintains a steady presence, especially in the passenger carrier and niche commercial segments.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd achieved 2,130 units sold, holding a 2.08% market share. The company continues to see stable demand in the premium truck segment, particularly for long-distance and heavy-duty applications.
SML Isuzu Ltd recorded 1,368 units, with a 1.33% market share. The brand remains focused on buses and light commercial vehicles, maintaining a consistent but smaller presence in the market.
Other OEMs together contributed 1,256 units, holding a 1.22% market share, indicating gradual growth from smaller and niche players in the commercial vehicle segment.
