India’s 3W sales reached 98,866 units in September 2025, down 7.20% YoY. Bajaj led the market, while Mahindra and TVS showed strong growth in electric three-wheelers.

India’s three-wheeler retail sales stood at 98,866 units in September 2025, marking a 4.11% month-on-month (MoM) and 7.20% year-on-year (YoY) decline. While overall numbers dropped slightly, certain categories and brands like Mahindra and TVS continued to show strong momentum in both electric and ICE segments.

Brand-Wise Performance Overview

Bajaj Auto Ltd

Bajaj Auto retained its leadership in the three-wheeler market during September 2025 with 34,792 units sold, commanding a 35.19% market share. In September 2024, Bajaj sold 37,426 units, holding a 35.13% share. Although the brand saw a slight volume dip, it continues to dominate the segment with its popular passenger and goods carriers that are known for reliability and wide market reach.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd

Mahindra & Mahindra recorded 8,861 units in September 2025, up from 6,718 units in September 2024. Its market share improved to 8.96%, compared to 6.31% a year ago. The brand’s strong performance is driven by its versatile range of diesel, CNG, and electric three-wheelers catering to passenger and cargo needs.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd (MLMM)

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility continued its impressive growth with 8,850 units sold in September 2025, up from 6,635 units last year. The company held an 8.95% market share, compared to 6.23% in September 2024. The brand’s focus on sustainable last-mile electric solutions has been key to its expanding presence across major Indian cities.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (Others)

A smaller division under Mahindra sold 11 units this month, compared to 83 units in September 2024. Though the sales volume is minimal, this category represents Mahindra’s niche experimental and regional operations in the 3W market.

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd

Piaggio sold 5,803 units in September 2025, securing a 5.87% market share, down from 7,780 units and a 7.30% share in September 2024. The company saw a slowdown due to rising competition in both the passenger and cargo segments, though it continues to maintain a strong presence with its reliable Ape lineup.

TVS Motor Company Ltd

TVS Motor registered significant growth, retailing 4,317 units in September 2025 — more than double compared to 2,011 units last year. Its market share jumped from 1.89% to 4.37%, reflecting strong customer acceptance of its expanding electric and ICE-based three-wheeler portfolio.

YC Electric Vehicle

YC Electric recorded 3,209 units in September 2025 with a 3.25% market share, slightly below 3,827 units and 3.59% share in September 2024. Despite the drop, the company remains a key player in the passenger e-rickshaw category, supported by affordable and efficient EV models.

Atul Auto Ltd

Atul Auto maintained stable performance, selling 2,358 units in September 2025, up from 2,181 units a year ago. The company’s market share increased slightly to 2.39%, showing steady demand for its durable three-wheelers, particularly in rural and semi-urban markets.

Saera Electric Auto Pvt Ltd

Saera Electric sold 1,627 units in September 2025, compared to 2,515 units last year. Its market share dropped to 1.65% from 2.36%, reflecting tough competition in the e-rickshaw space. However, Saera continues to focus on expanding its electric product range to recover market momentum.

Dilli Electric Auto Pvt Ltd

Dilli Electric retailed 1,535 units in September 2025, a decrease from 2,097 units in the same month last year. The company’s market share declined slightly to 1.55% from 1.97%, though it remains active in affordable electric mobility solutions for short-distance travel.

Other OEMs (Including Small EV Brands)

All other manufacturers combined contributed 36,364 units in September 2025, capturing 36.78% market share compared to 41,979 units and 39.40% share last year. This category includes several smaller and emerging EV players catering to regional and rural demand across India.

India’s three-wheeler market in September 2025 showed a moderate slowdown, with total sales of 98,866 units, marking both MoM and YoY declines. The passenger e-rickshaw segment witnessed the sharpest fall, while goods carrier and personal use segments saw steady growth. Bajaj Auto continues to lead the market, while Mahindra Group and TVS Motors demonstrated strong growth, especially in electric three-wheelers. With the festive season approaching, the market is expected to rebound in the coming months.
