This reflects a -2.61% month-on-month (MoM) decline, while maintaining a healthy 7.19% year-on-year (YoY) growth.
The data shows that although the market saw a minor monthly slowdown, the overall demand remains strong, especially driven by last-mile mobility and small cargo transport needs across urban and rural India.

Passenger three-wheelers remained the largest segment, with 57,767 units sold in April 2026.
The segment saw a -2.56% MoM decline, but recorded a strong 36.48% YoY growth.
This clearly shows rising demand for affordable public transport and shared mobility, especially in cities and semi-urban areas.
The goods segment registered 13,133 units, witnessing a -6.23% monthly decline, but a solid 27.23% YoY growth.
This growth is mainly supported by e-commerce expansion, local deliveries, and small business logistics, making three-wheelers a key transport solution.
Passenger e-rickshaws recorded 28,154 units, showing a -2.74% MoM drop and a sharp -28.73% YoY decline.
This indicates a significant slowdown in the electric passenger segment, possibly due to policy changes, financing issues, or shifting demand patterns in key markets.
The e-rickshaw goods segment performed better with 7,742 units, registering a 4.27% MoM growth and 3.96% YoY growth.
This reflects steady adoption of electric cargo vehicles, especially for short-distance and low-cost transport needs.
The personal segment remained very small, with just 112 units sold.
It saw a -4.27% MoM decline and a -21.13% YoY drop, indicating limited demand in this category.
April 2026 highlights a mixed trend in the three-wheeler market. While overall sales dipped slightly on a monthly basis, the industry continues to show positive yearly growth, driven mainly by passenger and goods segments.
However, the decline in e-rickshaw passenger sales signals a need for stability in the electric mobility space. Going forward, demand is expected to stay strong, supported by urban transport needs, rural connectivity, and last-mile delivery growth.
India’s three-wheeler market recorded a total of 1,06,908 units in April 2026, compared to 99,741 units in April 2025, reflecting steady growth in overall demand.
The market continues to remain competitive, with leading OEMs strengthening their positions while smaller and EV-focused players face mixed trends.
