Leadership Insights:

FADA President Mr. C S Vigneshwar shared that the new financial year started steadily, with overall vehicle retail sales in April growing by 3% compared to last year. All segments except commercial vehicles (CVs) saw growth. Two-wheelers sales grew by 2.25%, three-wheelers by 24.5%, passenger vehicles by 1.5%, and tractors by 7.5%. CV sales, however, dropped by 1%.

The commercial vehicle segment fell by 1.05% compared to last year and 4.44% compared to March. This was mainly due to price hikes by manufacturers, while freight rates and fleet usage remained unchanged. Dealers also mentioned that many customers bought in March, leaving higher stocks and fewer new enquiries in April, especially in the small cargo vehicle segment, where pricing and product issues were a concern. On the brighter side, bus sales stayed strong because school and staff transport demand. Financing options are mostly steady, but better support for first-time buyers will be important for future growth.

CMV360 Says

The FADA Sales Report for April 2025 highlights a slight downturn in commercial vehicle (CV) sales, with a 1.05% YoY decline. Despite this, some positive trends were seen in the MCV and Force Motors segments, which showed growth both month-on-month and year-on-year. The drop in CV sales can be attributed to factors such as price hikes and lower demand following March's purchases. For future growth, dealers are focusing on improving support for first-time buyers.
