India's electric bus sales reached 559 units in March 2026, down 3% MoM. JBM Electric led the market, while Switch Mobility declined, and PMI Electro Mobility recorded strong growth.
Total electric bus sales stood at 559 units in March 2026, down 3% from 578 units in February.
JBM Electric Vehicles led the market with 206 units and 36.9% share.
Switch Mobility dropped to second with 161 units after a sharp 42.5% decline.
PMI Electro Mobility grew strongly by 48%, selling 123 units.
Pinnacle Mobility and Azad India Mobility showed notable growth, while Tata Motors and others saw steep declines.
India’s electric bus market showed a slight slowdown in March 2026 after a strong performance in February. As per data from the Vahan Dashboard (as of April 2, 2026; Telangana data not included), total electric bus sales stood at 559 units, compared to 578 units in February 2026, reflecting a 3% month-on-month decline.

The marginal drop comes after a strong February, when sales had risen sharply from 391 units in January to 578 units, marking a 48% growth driven by faster adoption of electric public transport.

JBM Electric Vehicles emerged as the top performer in March 2026 with 206 units sold, up from 151 units in February. The company recorded a 36% growth and captured the highest 36.9% market share.
Switch Mobility, which led the market in February, dropped to second place in March. The company sold 161 units, down from 280 units, registering a 42.5% decline. Its market share stood at 28.8%.
PMI Electro Mobility secured third position with 123 units, compared to 83 units in February. This reflects a strong 48% growth, with a 22% market share.
Pinnacle Mobility saw a significant jump, selling 35 units in March compared to just 2 units in February, gaining 6.3% market share.
Aeroeagle Automobiles reported 22 units, slightly higher than 20 units in February, showing a 10% growth and holding 3.9% share.
Azad India Mobility recorded 10 units in March, up from zero sales in February, capturing 1.8% market share.
Tata Motors sold 2 units in March, down from 18 units in February, reflecting a sharp 89% drop, with a 0.4% share.
Olectra Greentech recorded no sales in March, compared to 20 units in February, marking a 100% decline.
VE Commercial Vehicles also reported zero sales, down from 4 units in February.
March 2026 highlights a shift in market leadership, with JBM Electric Vehicles overtaking Switch Mobility. While some OEMs recorded strong growth, others saw sharp declines, resulting in a slight overall drop in total sales.
India’s electric bus market remains on a growth path despite the minor dip in March 2026. The strong performance in previous months and continued participation from key players indicate steady progress in electric mobility adoption. With ongoing government support and rising demand for clean public transport, the sector is expected to maintain momentum in the coming months.
