EIM partners with FOTON to launch electric heavy commercial vehicles in India, aiming to boost clean freight transport with nationwide EV support infrastructure.

Key Highlights:

Energy In Motion (EIM), an associate of Ravindra Energy Limited, has signed an exclusive agreement with Beiqi FOTON Motor Co. Ltd., a leading global commercial vehicle maker. The aim is to bring electric heavy commercial vehicles (E-HCVs) to the Indian market. The rollout is expected to begin in the second quarter of FY 2025–26.

EIM Gets Exclusive Rights in India

As per the deal, EIM will have the exclusive right to assemble and market FOTON’s electric trucks in India. This will include various electric commercial vehicles like:

FOTON’s Global Experience Comes to India

FOTON sold over 6 lakh commercial vehicles globally in 2024. It was also the first Chinese commercial vehicle brand to get a road test license for autonomous driving. This experience and innovation will now benefit India’s growing electric vehicle sector.

Charging Network to Support EV Trucks

To make adoption easier, EIM plans to build a nationwide network of battery swapping and charging stations. These will be powered by renewable energy from Ravindra Energy Limited. This will help in creating a clean and complete energy ecosystem for the electric trucks.

Focus on Reducing Emissions from Trucks

Even though trucks make up just 4% of India’s total vehicles, they produce over 30% of the country's transport emissions. The electric trucks from EIM aim to offer a greener and more efficient option compared to diesel trucks. Declining battery prices and better technology also make these electric trucks cost-effective, even without subsidies.

Leadership Inssights:

Narendra Murkumbi, Vice Chairman of Ravindra Energy and Managing Director of EIM, said,
“This partnership shows our strong commitment to clean mobility. Our goal is to offer high-quality, eco-friendly electric trucks that also make business sense.” He added that EIM will also roll out heavy-duty charging and battery swap stations for this transition.

This partnership is expected to boost India’s efforts in shifting to electric freight transport. It combines advanced vehicle technology, renewable energy, and a strong support system for EVs. As India pushes for green transport, deals like this will play a key role in building a smarter, cleaner future for logistics.
