Delhi adds 100 new electric buses under the DEVi project to boost clean mobility. JBM Electric Vehicles supplies 66 of them, bringing smart tech and zero-emission transport to the city.
Key Highlights:
As part of Delhi’s electric mobility push, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 100 new DEVi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector) electric buses from the Narela Terminal. Of these, 66 electric buses have been supplied by JBM Electric Vehicles and will be deployed from the Nangloi Depot, serving areas in west and northwest Delhi.
Clean Mobility for a Cleaner Delhi
This move is part of the DEVi initiative, a key effort by the Delhi government to reduce pollution and modernize public transport through electric mobility. The aim is to make travel cleaner, safer, and more efficient for Delhi residents.
The 66 buses by JBM have been manufactured at its facility in Delhi-NCR. According to the company, this facility is one of the largest electric bus plants outside China, with a production capacity of up to 20,000 units annually.
The ECO-LIFE electric buses are fully zero-emission vehicles built on a monocoque chassis. They come with advanced systems like electronic suspension and safety tools such as anti-lock brakes, onboard diagnostics, and retarders.
Passenger and Driver-Friendly Features
The new buses are equipped with a range of commuter-friendly features. These include:
Seats have been reserved for women passengers, enhancing safety and comfort. For drivers, ergonomic dashboards have been added to improve control and reduce fatigue. JBM’s buses are supported by cloud-based tools for vehicle tracking, diagnostics, and data analytics. These tools are designed to improve energy use, reduce downtime, and support long-term performance for public transport operators.
