DICV aims to integrate 70 per cent of its vehicles internationally with at least one safety feature ahead of legislative authorities prescribing and executing legislation.

In a proactive move to enhance road safety, Daimler, the renowned automotive manufacturer, has announced its decision to integrate cutting-edge safety features in its trucks ahead of the stipulated Indian regulations. The move comes as a significant step towards ensuring safer transportation and reducing road accidents in the country.
In line with the global ambition of the Daimler Group, BharatBenz, a brand of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), has declared that the firm aspires to have at least one safety element implemented into trucks ahead of specified Indian requirements every other year by 2030.
Satyakam Arya, MD of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles said that the company will continue to deliver solutions that are one step ahead of new rules in order to increase the safety of drivers and passengers.
Every alternate year, DICV aims to integrate 70 per cent of its vehicles internationally with at least one safety feature ahead of legislative authorities prescribing and executing legislation.
According to Arya, DICV has always been at the forefront of incorporating safety measures in India, from including strong bumpers to designing windscreens for driver and pedestrian protection. The company now produces trucks with safety features that meet ECE R29-03 safety standards.
ECE R29-03 is a set of European vehicle cabin construction safety regulations that are widely regarded as among the most stringent in the world. Arya also expects that the Indian government will soon require ECE R29-03 norms as a standard safety rule in India.
Furthermore, Arya emphasizes that safer truck cabins must be constructed because crash-related data shows that at least 21 per cent of fatalities occur because the driver's body is not immediately removed from the truck cabin to be sent to the nearest hospital. As a result, it is believed that well-engineered truck cabins are a must.

While DICV is primarily concerned with enhancing road safety by incorporating ECE R29-03 regulations, the firm also stated that it may open up export potential, particularly in the European commercial vehicle market, which might help the company grow even further.
What important is that truck manufacturers such as BharatBenz (DICV) offer robust and safe trucks in India that are top-notch in terms of performance. Among their trucks with safer cabins and strong engines are the BharatBenz 4828R and 3523R haulage trucks, the 5528T 6x4 tractor-trailer, and the 3528C tipper truck.
As the Indian automotive sector moves towards greater emphasis on safety, Daimler's proactive approach is likely to be well-received by authorities, customers, and the public alike. With this move, Daimler demonstrates its commitment to creating a safer and more secure road environment for everyone.
