Commercial vehicle sales were down in May 2023

In the month of May 2023, the Mahindra & Mahindra brand recorded a 4.51% increase in domestic sales. In May 2023, the company sold 25,913 commercial vehicle units, up from 24,794 in May 2022.

Tata Motors reported a 12% drop in commercial vehicle sales to 27,570 units in May, down from 31,414 units sold the previous year. Its ILMCV truck sales fell 38% from 5,540 units in May '22 to 3,450 units in June.

Ashok Leyland’s sales decreased by 1%. It sold a total of 12,378 units in May 2023, as compared to 12,458 units in May 2022. Its M&HCV and LCV offerings declined by 1% and 8% to 6,573 and 4,788 units, respectively, while buses increased by 62% to 1017 units.

M&M recently expanded their Bolero Maxx Pik-up and anticipates selling approximately 17,500 units each month. In FY23, it sold two lakh units in the 2-3.5T LCV segment, accounting for 60% of the market. Tractor sales fell 3% to 33,113 units, down from 34,153 units the previous year.

Bajaj Auto sales increased by 29% in May 23. The firm sold a total of 3,55,148 vehicles, compared to the 2,75,868 vehicles on May 22. Total commercial vehicle sales increased by 80% last month to 47,452 units, up from 26,369 units in the same period last year.

VE Commercial Vehicles sold 6289 vehicles in May 2023, up from 5637 units in May 2022, representing an 11.6% increase.

Total domestic sales of Eicher trucks and buses were 5,826 units in May 2023 compared to May 2022. It experienced an increase of 15.8% in domestic sales. However, total exports decreased by 46.9% to 250 units. Volvo truck and bus sales increased by 60.2% to 213 units in May 2023, up from 133 units in May 2022.
