Delhi is set to build a new Automated Testing Centre (ATC) near Nand Nagri to test 72,000 commercial vehicles annually. This ₹2.5 crore facility will ease pressure on the overcrowded Jhuljhuli ATC and reduce delays. Equipped with modern tools and four testing lanes, it aims to double Delhi’s vehicle testing capacity, cut emissions, and boost road safety. The centre is expected to generate ₹3 crore annually and retain revenue by reducing out-of-state vehicle testing. Construction will be completed in 2–3 months.

Tata Motors Eyes CV Market Comeback with SCV Focus and Ace Pro Launch

Tata Motors domestic CV market share has dropped from 42% in FY19 to below 36% in FY25, mainly due to a sharp decline in its Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) segment, falling from 66% to 53%. Chairman N Chandrasekaran acknowledged this underperformance, with plans to revive SCV sales through the new Ace Pro, offered in petrol, CNG, and EV variants. Tata is also restructuring its CV business into focused verticals to drive growth. The goal is to regain a 40% market share soon.

Tata Motors in Talks to Buy Italy’s Iveco, Agnelli Family Exploring Options

Tata Motors is in talks to acquire a stake in Italy’s Iveco Group from Exor, excluding Iveco’s defence unit. Any deal will be reviewed under Italy’s ‘golden power’ law due to Iveco’s strategic importance. Discussions are still in early stages, with other potential buyers reportedly involved. If successful, the deal could enhance Tata’s global presence, especially in Europe’s commercial vehicle market.

Supreme Court: LMV License Valid for Commercial Vehicles Under 7500 Kg

The Supreme Court ruled that a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) license is valid for commercial vehicles up to 7500 kg. This verdict came in a case involving a Tata 407 accident, where the insurer denied liability due to a lack of a commercial license. The Court directed the insurer to pay ₹19.53 lakh compensation under the “pay and recover” principle. This ruling clarifies that LMV license holders can legally drive light commercial vehicles, ensuring fair compensation for victims and legal clarity for drivers.
