Key Highlights

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has opened a new BharatBenz service centre in Silchar, Assam. The facility, operated with PPS Trucking, is located near ISBT on the Silchar Bypass (NH 37). This centre serves key corridors linking Assam to Manipur and Mizoram, supporting the region's growing logistics needs.

Facility Features and Capabilities

The new workshop spans 30,000 square feet and is designed to handle high commercial vehicle traffic. It features eight service bays, allowing maintenance of up to 3,000 vehicles each year. The centre uses advanced diagnostic systems and modern tools to ensure precise and efficient servicing.

A team of 32 certified technicians works at the centre, focusing on reducing turnaround times for repairs and maintenance. The facility also offers 24/7 roadside assistance through a fleet of mobile service vans, ensuring support for fleet operators at all times.

Strategic Importance for Northeast Logistics

The Silchar service centre is strategically positioned to support fleet operators in the Barak Valley, a region experiencing significant infrastructure growth. Ongoing road projects under the Asom Mala 3.0 program and industrial activity from limestone deposits in the North Cachar Hills have increased demand for reliable commercial vehicle services.

Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and CBO of DICV, stated that the facility brings genuine service capability closer to customers in one of the country’s most demanding regions. The centre ensures access to genuine spare parts and expert maintenance, helping fleet operators maintain high vehicle uptime.

Rajiv Sanghvi, Managing Director of PPS Trucking, highlighted the centre’s role at a vital junction for Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram. He said the facility would help customers achieve greater profitability through improved vehicle uptime and lower total ownership costs.

Additional Services and Customer Focus

Beyond technical repairs, the Silchar centre offers dedicated rest areas and customer-focused amenities for drivers. Preventive maintenance programs and a strong regional spare parts inventory help keep the logistics belt of the Northeast moving efficiently.

The launch of the Silchar workshop marks a key step in BharatBenz’s strategy to improve service proximity in challenging terrains. By combining PPS Trucking’s operational experience with Daimler’s advanced technology, the facility supports the region’s expanding infrastructure and industrial sectors.
