The Indian Army will soon have three advanced technology products and solutions such as a light bulletproof vehicle, a light general service vehicle, and Tank T72 GB Assembly aggregates such as gearboxes.

Ashok Leyland, India's largest supplier of logistics vehicles to the Indian Army, today showcased three advanced-technology products and solutions at the ongoing event DefExpo India 2022. This event is India's premier defence exhibition, which is being held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and is being organized by the Ministry of Defence.

Ashok Leyland has been at the forefront of offering next-generation mobility solutions and technology for the country's armed services by partnering with the Indian Army for its logistics needs, adhering to its philosophy of 'Aap ki Jeet, Hamari Jeet.'

Col Sonam Wangchuk, a Kargil War hero and recipient of the country's second highest gallantry award, unveiled the Jeet 4x4, an all-new Light General Service Vehicle designed, developed, and manufactured in India by Ashok Leyland.

In the presence of senior dignitaries from the Indian Army and the Ministry of Defence, Rajesh R, Vice President of Defence & Power Solutions Business, Ashok Leyland unveiled and launched other products.

Def Expo 2022 displayed the following products: -

  1. JEET 4x4
  2. LBPV 444
  3. Tank T72 GB Assembly Components

Jeet 4x4 is built on a tried-and-true vehicle platform that is best suited for General Service (GS) roles. The vehicle is well-equipped to perform well in hilly, high-altitude, cross-country, plains, and desert terrain. The vehicle also makes use of cutting-edge technology throughout its systems.

LBPV 4x4: Light Bullet Proof Vehicle 4x4 is a versatile platform designed and developed in-house to carry a small team of 06 combat soldiers into various tactical missions such as counter-insurgency/counter-terrorism operations for reconnaissance, quick reaction, and patrolling. The LBPV is designed for all-terrain mobility, armoured protection, and the ability to operate independently on the battlefield. It has all-wheel independent suspension, ABS, and ride height management.

Tank T72 GB Assembly aggregates: These are Tank T-72 gearboxes, known as 'Ajeya' in India. Ashok Leyland will begin producing subassemblies and subcomponents for the Tank T72, including gearboxes.

Mr Rajesh R, Vice President - Defence & Power Solutions Business, Ashok Leyland, stated at the DefExpo 2022, "At the DefExpo, we are delighted to present our next generation capabilities for the Defence forces, keeping in mind their anticipated mobility trends. Our in-house R&D would also address the growing demand for resource efficiency and optimization with these advanced technology solutions."
