Tata Motors has reported a strong performance in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment for January 2026. The company recorded total CV sales of 41,549 units, showing a year-on-year growth of 29.9% compared to 31,988 units sold in January 2025. The growth was supported by higher domestic demand and a sharp rise in export volumes, helping Tata Motors strengthen its position in the Indian and global CV market.

In the domestic market, Tata Motors sold 38,844 commercial vehicles in January 2026. This marked a 29.1% growth over 30,083 units sold in the same month last year. Growth was mainly driven by strong demand in heavy trucks, intermediate and light commercial vehicles, and the small commercial vehicle cargo segment.

The Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) segment recorded the highest growth among all categories. Sales increased to 12,691 units, driven by rising activity in infrastructure projects, construction, and long-haul logistics.
The ILMCV segment also showed healthy momentum with 7,071 units sold, supported by steady demand for regional transport and mid-distance cargo movement.
The SCV Cargo and Pickup segment remained a key contributor with 14,520 units sold. Growth in this category was supported by increasing demand from small businesses, e-commerce logistics, and last-mile delivery operations.
Sales in the Passenger Carrier segment stood at 4,562 units, showing marginal change compared to last year. Demand remained steady from staff transport, school buses, and public transport use cases.
Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle exports rose sharply to 2,705 units, registering a 42% year-on-year growth. This improvement reflects the rising acceptance of Tata commercial vehicles in international markets and expanding export operations.
Tata Motors’ January 2026 performance highlights strong momentum across most commercial vehicle segments. Rising infrastructure activity, consistent domestic demand, growth in last-mile logistics, and improved export volumes continue to support the company’s steady growth in the commercial vehicle market.
