The Uttar Pradesh government has started transferring payments to sugarcane farmers at the newly revised rates for the 2025-26 crushing season. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, several important decisions are being taken to support sugarcane farmers and ensure a smooth procurement and payment system across the state.

According to official data, 29 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have transferred a total of ₹513.96 crore directly into the bank accounts of sugarcane farmers.
Most sugar mills are also ensuring weekly payment arrangements, helping farmers receive timely payments for the sugarcane supplied.
Sugarcane crushing work is progressing rapidly this season.
The Sugarcane Department shared that:
114 sugar mills have issued indents for sugarcane purchase.
Crushing operations have officially started in 104 mills.
Continuous monitoring by the government is helping the 2025-26 season begin smoothly, ensuring farmers do not face delays or disruptions.
To strengthen the procurement system, the Additional Chief Secretary (Sugarcane Department) has issued clear directions to all district officials. These include:
Proper setup of sugarcane procurement centers
Timely purchase and smooth operation of weighbridges
Availability of weighbridge clerks and standardized bots
Clean and hygienic facilities for farmers
Strict checks against weighing irregularities
Officials must send regular inspection reports from cooperative and municipal mills to the headquarters.
They have also been told to resolve farmer complaints promptly to avoid delays in procurement and ensure farmers face no inconvenience.
In a major announcement for farmers, the state government has approved a ₹30 per quintal hike in sugarcane prices for the 2025-26 crushing season.
As per Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary:
Early variety sugarcane price: ₹400 per quintal
Regular variety price: ₹390 per quintal
This increase is expected to give farmers an additional benefit of around ₹3,000 crore, directly boosting their income and helping them prepare better for the next crop cycle.

Over the last eight years, the Yogi government has made significant improvements to the sugarcane industry:
4 new sugar mills established
6 closed mills restarted
Production capacity expanded in 42 mills (equal to 8 large mills)
CBG plants installed in 2 mills to generate clean energy from sugarcane byproducts
These steps have strengthened the state’s sugar industry and increased production capacity.
The government’s Smart Sugarcane Farmer System has made the entire process more transparent and farmer-friendly. Through this digital platform:
Acreage, betting, calendaring and slip issuance are fully online
Sugarcane slips reach farmers directly on mobile phones
Payments are made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
Congestion and issues at weighbridges have reduced significantly
This system saves time and ensures convenience for lakhs of sugarcane farmers.
Along with sugarcane farmers, paddy and millet farmers in the state are also receiving timely payments this year.
Paddy Procurement Highlights (As on November 19, 2025-26 Season):
4.12 lakh metric tons of paddy procured
70,000+ farmers benefited
₹852.24 crore paid (higher than ₹848.19 crore last year)
4,171 procurement centers are active
4,40,318 farmers registered
Farmers have praised the speed and transparency of payments this year.
Millet Procurement Highlights:
Millet procurement is active in 33 districts
Farmers paid ₹168.39 crore, nearly three times more than last year
Minimum support price (MSP) for millet: ₹2,775 per quintal
Farmers report faster payments, helping them prepare better for the upcoming crop
Due to regular government reviews and digital monitoring, procurement for sugarcane, paddy and millet is running more smoothly than in previous years.
