Swaraj Tractors, a leading tractor brand under the Mahindra Group, has been awarded the prestigious Bhamashah Award by the Government of Rajasthan. The award recognizes Swaraj Division’s dedicated efforts in community development, particularly in the Jodhpur district during the financial year 2024–25.
Swaraj Tractors focused its efforts on improving infrastructure in government schools by setting up rooftop rainwater harvesting systems and distributing teaching-learning materials. These steps were taken to enhance the quality of education and to deal with two major rural issues, water scarcity and fluoride contamination.
A Swaraj spokesperson stated,
“The award acknowledges Swaraj Division’s impactful efforts in strengthening government schools in Jodhpur district during FY 2024-25, particularly through the installation of rooftop rainwater harvesting systems and provision of teaching-learning materials to enhance the quality of education.”
This initiative is part of a larger community welfare program run in collaboration with Sarv Mangal Gramin Vikas Sansthan. It spans across 78 villages, 20 blocks, and 8 districts, focusing on:
Access to safe drinking water
Support for livestock
Irrigation for farmers
The spokesperson further added,
“This honour reflects the Division’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and its proactive efforts in addressing critical issues such as water scarcity and fluoride contamination, challenges that have long impacted rural Rajasthan.”
In the past six years, Swaraj Division’s efforts have created measurable improvements in rural Rajasthan:
18 traditional water bodies were renovated, generating 3.72 million cubic metres of water.
57 government schools were equipped with rooftop harvesting tanks, supplying over 5.7 million litres of clean water.
These efforts especially helped regions affected by drought and water shortage.
Beyond clean water and education, Swaraj’s community efforts have benefited:
48,000+ individuals
37,000+ livestock
3,000+ hectares of farmland
Their initiatives cover vital areas like health, education, water conservation, agriculture, and livestock management, key areas of rural life and livelihood.
“The Bhamashah Award stands as a testament to Swaraj Division’s long-term vision of empowering rural communities through targeted, high-impact interventions,” said the spokesperson.
