Uttar Pradesh’s sugarcane farmers have received an important update for the 2025-26 crushing season. The state government has announced that sugarcane slips will be sent only through SMS, just like last year. With around 4.5 million sugarcane farmers depending on these slips, every farmer must ensure their mobile number is correct and active on the Smart Sugarcane Farmer (SGK) portal.

The Sugarcane and Sugar Commissioner stated that the digital SMS slip system has made the entire process transparent, fast, and reliable. Farmers will receive slips directly on their registered mobile number, helping them supply fresh sugarcane on time and avoid losses caused by drying or spoilage.
The Sugarcane Department has urged farmers to check their mobile numbers on the SGK portal.
If the number is incorrect, inactive, or switched off, the farmer will not receive the slip, which can delay sugarcane supply to the mill. Farmers can update their mobile number by contacting their sugarcane supervisor.
To make SMS delivery smooth and uninterrupted, farmers must keep these points in mind:
Keep your mobile phone on and charged.
Ensure your SMS inbox has space.
Do not activate the Call Barred option.
Keep your phone in an area with good network coverage.
Avoid activating DND (Do Not Disturb) services.
Maintain an active SIM card with proper recharge.
Following these steps will help farmers receive slips on time without any delay.
The Sugarcane Department confirmed that the SMS slip system has brought greater transparency and accountability. Farmers no longer need to visit offices or face delays. As soon as the slip is generated, an SMS is sent, allowing immediate delivery of sugarcane to the mill.

The Cane and Sugar Commissioner has directed district cane officers and assistant commissioners to spread awareness about the SMS system. Through village-level meetings and publicity campaigns, farmers must be informed that, in case they are not receiving SMS, they should contact officials for number updates.
In another big relief, the Yogi Adityanath government has increased the Support Price (SAP) of sugarcane for the 2025-26 crushing season:
Early-ripening sugarcane: Increased from ₹370 to ₹400 per quintal
Regular-ripening sugarcane: Increased from ₹360 to ₹390 per quintal
This is considered a historic hike, ensuring higher income for farmers and a smoother supply to sugar mills.
Farmers are getting a dual advantage this season: greater transparency through the SMS slip system and higher income from higher sugarcane prices.
Experts believe this move will improve farmer productivity and strengthen the timely sugarcane supply. Farmers are advised to ensure their mobile number is correct, active, and recharged so they don’t miss any SMS slips.
This initiative marks a major step towards empowering farmers with technology-driven support and financial benefits.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s SMS-based sugarcane slip system and increased support price offer farmers both convenience and financial relief. By keeping their mobile numbers updated and active, farmers can ensure timely slip delivery and smooth supply to mills. With higher SAP rates and improved transparency, this season is expected to strengthen farmer income and streamline sugarcane operations.
