Farmers in Madhya Pradesh can now avail subsidy benefits on power weeders under the Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana. The state government is offering a subsidy of up to ₹60,000 to promote modern agricultural practices and reduce farming costs.
This scheme will especially benefit small, marginal, women, and Scheduled Caste/Tribe farmers, helping them adopt new technology for tasks like weeding, hoeing, and soil preparation. Farmers can apply for this subsidy through the e-Krishi Yantra Anudan Portal.
A Power Weeder is a modern agricultural machine used for removing weeds, plowing the soil (light tilling), hoeing, and preparing small-scale fields. It runs on diesel or petrol and comes with rotary blades that cut and turn the soil while removing weeds.
Unlike tractors, it is operated manually but requires much less effort, making it highly useful for farmers with small and medium-sized fields.
Under the Agricultural Engineering Department’s subsidy scheme:
SC/ST and women farmers: 50% subsidy or up to ₹60,000
Small and marginal farmers of other categories: 40–50% subsidy
General category farmers: 30–40% subsidy, with a maximum benefit of ₹40,000
Farmers can also use the subsidy calculator available on the official website to check the exact grant amount.
Power weeders are available in various models and brands, including VST Maestro 55P, Kirloskar Min T 5 Petrol, Kirloskar Min T 8 HP Diesel, Jagatjit Intra 303 Row Weeder, Balwan BW-25, VST FT35 GE, Balwan BP-700, and others.
Their prices range from ₹21,000 to ₹1,85,000 depending on the brand and model.
Farmers must buy only from companies listed by the Agricultural Engineering Department to get the subsidy benefit.
Farmers applying under the scheme must prepare a Demand Draft (DD) of ₹3100 in the name of the Assistant Agricultural Engineer of their district.
DDs of less than the prescribed amount will not be accepted.
Applications without DD will be rejected.
A district-wise list of engineers is available on the official portal.
Applications will be collected, and targets will be set based on the number of requests.
A lottery system will be used to select beneficiaries.
After verification, farmers will get approval for purchasing the power weeder.
Farmers are advised to buy the equipment only after approval from the department.
Farmers need the following documents for online application and verification:
Aadhaar card (linked with mobile number)
Bank passbook (first page copy)
Demand Draft of ₹3100
Land ownership proof (Khasra / Khatauni or B-1)
Caste Certificate (mandatory for SC/ST farmers)
The scheme is currently available for Madhya Pradesh farmers only.
Applications can be submitted online at the e-Krishi Yantra Anudan Portal.
Beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system.
