In a major relief decision, the Rajasthan government has announced financial assistance worth over ₹1,000 crore for more than 50 lakh farmers affected by heavy rainfall and damaged Kharif crops. Farmers from 31 districts will benefit from this relief package, which aims to help them recover from crop losses caused by erratic weather in 2025.
This year, Rajasthan received twice the average rainfall, creating flood-like conditions in several areas. As a result, paddy, mung bean, black gram, soybean, and maize crops suffered major damage, with many fields left waterlogged. After reviewing the survey report of crop destruction, the government immediately approved a relief plan to compensate affected farmers.
To provide financial help, the government has decided to distribute agricultural grants from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This fund will ensure that farmers receive timely aid to restart agricultural activities.
The districts benefiting from this relief include Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Sriganganagar, Sawai Madhopur, Rajsamand, Banswara, Beawar, Balotra, and several others.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has instructed all district collectors to ensure that farmers receive the relief amount as quickly as possible. He emphasized that the government will not delay in helping farmers during their time of need.
In the past, farmers had to wait two to three years to get compensation, but the current administration is implementing a quick and transparent system for immediate distribution.
Along with the relief fund, the government has also declared 7,451 villages in 12 districts as scarcity-hit, where crop losses have exceeded 33%. Farmers from these villages will receive agricultural input subsidies to support their farming needs.
This declaration will remain effective till March 31, 2026, covering areas in Banswara, Beawar, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Nagaur, Rajsamand, Didwana-Kuchaman, Sawai Madhopur, Sriganganagar, Balotra, and Chittorgarh.
Deputy Secretary Shaifali Kushwaha from the Disaster Management Department stated that this decision will provide direct financial support to thousands of farmers across 98 tehsils in these districts.
Chief Minister Sharma stated, “Our goal is to bring smiles to farmers’ faces. Providing relief to every farmer affected by excessive rainfall is the government’s top priority.”
He added that the state is also developing smart surveys, digital land records, and a prompt payment system to ensure faster compensation in case of future natural disasters.
This announcement has sparked a wave of happiness among farmers across Rajasthan. After years of waiting for delayed compensation, farmers are now hopeful of timely relief.
Many expressed that this move will bring “relief to both their farms and their stomachs,” highlighting how crucial this financial support is for their livelihoods.
