Rs 20,000 Per Acre Compensation for Crop Loss

Heavy rains and floods in September caused massive crop damage across Punjab. According to the state government, crops on nearly 1.76 lakh hectares of land were completely destroyed. To provide relief, the government will give compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre to affected farmers.

Chief Minister Mann said the government will ensure that cheques reach farmers on time, calling it the biggest relief amount announced by any state so far.

"Jisda Khet, Uski Sand" Scheme Approved

Floods left behind large deposits of sand in farmlands, making them unfit for cultivation. To help farmers, the government has approved the “Jisda Khet, Uski Sand” scheme, allowing farmers to extract and sell sand from their own fields. This will give them additional income while helping make the land cultivable again.

Loan Repayment Date Extended by 6 Months

In another big relief, the government has extended the loan repayment deadline by six months for farmers who have taken loans from cooperative societies and state agricultural banks. During this period, no installment or interest will be charged, giving farmers time to recover financially and prepare for the next crop.

Rs 4 Lakh Compensation for Families of Flood Victims

The government has also announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for families who lost their loved ones in the floods. Chief Minister Mann assured that the government stands firmly with every affected family in this difficult time.

Compensation for Livestock, Houses and Properties

Apart from crop loss, the relief package also covers other damages. Farmers and families who lost cattle, goats, poultry, or suffered damage to houses and properties will receive financial aid. A state-wide survey will be conducted to identify affected households and provide compensation accordingly.
