Key Highlights

The Central Government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 and Rabi 2025–26 seasons. Under this scheme, farmers across India can get their crops insured till July 31, 2025, and protect their income against natural disasters. The scheme is open to loanee farmers, non-loanee farmers, and sharecroppers, and offers insurance coverage for a wide range of risks such as floods, drought, pests, and diseases.

Premium Details for Crop Insurance

The premium rates under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana are minimal:

Claim Process for Damaged Crops

If crops are damaged within 14 days of harvesting due to any of the above reasons, the farmer can register a claim using the following platforms:

The claim must be filed within 72 hours of the damage. Officials from the insurance company and the agriculture department will survey the field. After assessing the loss, they will help fill out the claim form. Once approved, the insurance amount is transferred directly to the farmer’s bank account.

Special Updates from States

Rajasthan:

The last date to insure Kharif crops has been extended to July 31, 2025. Early insurance will help fast-track the claim process in case of damage.

Haryana:

The Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana is a separate state-level scheme for horticulture crops. Though not part of PMFBY, it offers great benefits for Haryana farmers.

To apply, farmers must register on the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal and submit their crop and land details.
