Farmers in Uttar Pradesh to get direct payment within 48 hours under transparent MSP procurement; middlemen removed from the process.

The Uttar Pradesh government has started the paddy procurement process for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26 from November 1 in the eastern parts of the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directions to ensure farmers face no problems during procurement and that middlemen are completely removed from the system.

Direct Payment to Farmers Within 48 Hours

The Chief Minister ordered that farmers should receive their payment within 48 hours of selling paddy at procurement centers. This will ensure transparency and speed in transactions.

This year, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy has been increased to help farmers earn a better income.

Yogi Adityanath also directed officials to ensure adequate availability of fertilizers, seeds, and improved paddy varieties in every district. District Magistrates were asked to monitor procurement centers and maintain fair and efficient operations.

Over 2.17 Lakh Farmers Registered in Uttar Pradesh

Registration for paddy sales began on September 1. So far, 2,17,625 farmers have registered for the current season.

Compensation for Rain-Affected Crops

The Chief Minister also directed officials to conduct an immediate survey of rain-affected crops and ensure farmers receive timely compensation. Payments must be made quickly and as per government rules to avoid delays in relief.

CM’s Instructions on Cow Shelters and Worker Payments

During the same review meeting, CM Yogi also addressed the issue of cow shelters. He instructed all District Magistrates to personally inspect cow shelters and make sure every cow receives proper fodder, water, and medical care.

Additionally, he emphasized the timely payment of honorariums to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, cooks, and other staff working in public welfare schemes.

Paddy Procurement Rising Across India

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has reported a major increase in nationwide paddy procurement at MSP this year.

Record Procurement in Punjab and Haryana

Punjab and Haryana have recorded remarkable increases in paddy procurement this season:

Both states began procurement early, in mid-September, due to early harvesting.

Southern and Other States Contribution

In Tamil Nadu, procurement has more than doubled compared to last year, reaching 7.51 lakh tonnes versus 2.89 lakh tonnes last year.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana together have contributed 4.05 lakh tonnes to the national tally.

Government’s Target and Future Plans

The Central Government aims to procure 463.49 lakh tonnes of paddy for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26.

States like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh began procurement on November 1. The Madhya Pradesh government has asked the Centre for permission to allow state agencies to buy directly from farmers, ensuring better profits for cultivators.

Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry will soon release a Kharif crop estimate report to assess the country’s total paddy production.

Transparent Procurement System in Uttar Pradesh

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has placed farmers interests at the top of his administration’s priorities. He has directed all districts to implement a fully transparent and accountable procurement system.

At the national level, the central government’s record procurement drive ensures farmers across India receive fair prices and timely payments under the MSP system.
