There is good news for moong and urad farmers in Madhya Pradesh. The government will soon begin procurement of these crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to ensure fair prices and income security. The registration for selling moong and urad at MSP will begin from June 19, 2025. Interested farmers must complete the registration process in time to benefit from this scheme.
This step is being taken under the joint initiative of the Central and State Governments to help farmers get the right value for their produce. The Madhya Pradesh government has already sent a detailed proposal to the Central Government outlining the crop purchase plan, quality checks, payment system, and promotion strategy.
Moong MSP: ₹8682 per quintal
Urad MSP: ₹7400 per quintal
At these prices, farmers can sell their moong and urad crops to government procurement centers. This will protect them from market price fluctuations and ensure a stable income.
To sell their crops at MSP, farmers need to register from June 19, 2025. The following documents and details are required:
Aadhaar card number
Bank account number and IFSC code (should be from a nationalized or cooperative bank)
Self-attested copy of land rights/loan book
Crop name and details
For sharecropping (Sikmi) farmers, a self-attested copy of the crop agreement
Once registered, farmers will get a computerized receipt with their name, bank details, and payable amount. This receipt, signed by the procurement in-charge, will serve as official proof.
As per government data:
Moong potential area: 14.35 lakh hectares
Expected production: 20.23 lakh metric tons
Urad potential area: 0.95 lakh hectares
Expected production: 1.24 lakh metric tons
Moong is harvested between May 3rd week and June 1st week across 36 districts, while urad is harvested in the same period in 13 districts. This wide coverage means a large number of farmers stand to benefit.
To ensure smooth operations, the government has taken steps to provide facilities at procurement centers:
Shade and seating for farmers
Clean drinking water and toilets
First-aid box availability
