The Maharashtra government has announced major relief for farmers by increasing subsidies on tractors and power tillers under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission. This move aims to empower farmers, boost agricultural productivity, and make modern equipment more accessible to small and marginalized farmers.
To help farmers become self-reliant and reduce the burden of rising equipment costs, the Maharashtra government has now increased the subsidy on tractors. Under this new update:
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Smallholder Farmers (those owning at least 1 acre of land) were earlier getting a subsidy of up to ₹1,00,000 for a 20 HP tractor.
Now increased to ₹2,00,000
Other Farmers were earlier eligible for a subsidy of ₹75,000
Now increased to ₹1,60,000
This means even farmers who could not afford to buy a tractor earlier can now plan to buy one with a significantly reduced financial burden.
Apart from tractors, the government has also increased the subsidy on power tillers, which are highly useful for small-scale farming operations.
SC/ST Farmers: Subsidy increased from ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000
Other Farmers: Subsidy increased from ₹65,000 to ₹80,000
This decision will encourage farmers with smaller landholdings to invest in better tools for their farming needs.
The scheme benefits several farmer categories, with special preference given to:
Smallholder Farmers (Minimum 1 acre of land)
SC/ST Farmers
Women Farmers
Farmers purchasing a tractor for the first time
There are multiple ways farmers can apply for the subsidy:

This increase in subsidy is a welcome step by the Maharashtra government. It will:

Help small and marginal farmers access modern equipment
Encourage the adoption of advanced farming methods
Farmers across the state are expected to benefit from this initiative, especially those who have struggled to purchase machinery due to financial constraints.
