Over 26 lakh 34 thousand beneficiaries have been declared ineligible under the state-run version of the scheme called Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. This update has left many women in doubt about their future benefits, while fraudulent beneficiaries, including over 14,000 men, have been exposed.

Fraudulent Claims Uncovered in the Scheme

According to Maharashtra’s Women and Child Development Department, a detailed investigation revealed massive misuse of the scheme. Out of the ineligible beneficiaries, many were:

For instance, Nagpur district alone reported 61,146 ineligible cases. In some families, multiple women had applied for benefits, violating the rule that only one woman per family is eligible.

Government to Take Action Against Fraud

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has confirmed that strict action will be taken. The state will recover the funds from ineligible beneficiaries, especially those who joined the scheme using fake documents or misinformation. If they fail to return the money, legal action will follow.

Women holding government jobs and found to be ineligible have already been removed from the list. Ajit Pawar also assured that the review process will continue, and more names may be removed if found ineligible.

No Installment for Ineligible Beneficiaries

The 13th installment of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will be given only to eligible women. Those declared ineligible will not receive any further payments, and previous amounts will be recovered.

As of now, the Maharashtra government has not confirmed the release date for the 13th installment. Eligible women are advised to remain patient and keep checking their status regularly.

Re-Verification Process and Possible Reinstatement

Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare confirmed that 26.34 lakh women have been temporarily excluded from the scheme. These names have been sent to the respective District Magistrates for re-verification. If found eligible, they will be reinstated, but until then, payments are paused.

How to Check if You Are Still Eligible

Women enrolled under the Ladli Bahna Yojana, Maharashtra, should regularly check their names in the updated beneficiary list to confirm their eligibility for the next installment.

Online Method to Check Your Name

  2. Log in using your mobile number and OTP.

  3. On the dashboard, click on “Check Beneficiary List”.

  4. View the list and verify your name.

Offline Method

Visit your nearest Gram Panchayat or Setu Suvidha Kendra. Provide your Aadhaar number or reference number to the official to check your name in the list.

What If You Are Eligible But Removed from the List?
