Why One Crore Women May Be Excluded

Around 2.35 crore women have registered under the scheme. However, the Women and Child Development Department reports that only 1.3 crore have successfully completed the mandatory e-KYC process.

Nearly one crore women are yet to complete it and are considered “unavailable”. If these women fail to finish e-KYC before the deadline, they may lose their benefits.

A senior official also mentioned that the government may consider extending the deadline, but no official announcement has been made yet.

Why e-KYC Was Made Mandatory

When the scheme was launched, 2.5 crore women registered, and many cases of fraudulent applications were detected.

To verify identities and ensure only eligible women receive the benefits, the government introduced a mandatory e-KYC system.

E-KYC Issues Before November Installment Release

Women receive ₹1,500 monthly assistance under the scheme. The November installment is about to be released, but unresolved e-KYC issues have caused panic among beneficiaries.
