Over 9.2 crore farmers received Kisan ID under AgriStack, enabling fast, transparent access to PM-KISAN, MSP, insurance, loans, and relief benefits through direct bank transfers.
India’s agriculture sector is rapidly moving towards digital transformation, and the Government of India’s AgriStack initiative is playing a major role in this change. As of March 19, 2026, more than 9.20 crore farmers across the country have received their Kisan ID, creating a strong digital foundation for faster and transparent delivery of government scheme benefits.
This update was shared in the Lok Sabha on March 24 by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ram Nath Thakur. Notably, 47.63 lakh farmers from Bihar are already part of this growing digital ecosystem.
Kisan ID is a digital identity for farmers developed under the AgriStack platform. It works as a single gateway that connects farmers to multiple government schemes and services without the need for repeated verification.
Instead of being just an identification number, it helps farmers access benefits in a faster, simpler, and more transparent way, reducing delays and paperwork.
With Kisan ID, farmers can easily access benefits from multiple schemes on one platform, including:
Minimum Support Price (MSP)-based procurement
Agricultural loans
Disaster relief assistance
The system uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to send money directly to farmers’ bank accounts, ensuring quick payments without middlemen.
One of the biggest advantages of Kisan ID is its inclusive approach. It is designed to benefit a wide range of people involved in agriculture, such as:
Women farmers
Sharecroppers and tenant farmers
Livestock owners
Fish farmers
Earlier, many of these groups were left out of major schemes, but the new system ensures they are now included under the State Farmer Registry.
The effectiveness of Kisan ID is already visible in several states:
Maharashtra: During Kharif 2025, over ₹14,000 crore crop loss relief was transferred directly to around 89 lakh farmers within just five days using AgriStack.
Chhattisgarh: Kisan ID and digital crop surveys have been made mandatory for MSP-based paddy procurement, benefiting 32 lakh farmers with improved transparency and reduced middlemen interference.
The government has ensured that even farmers without smartphones or internet access can benefit from this system. Registration can be done through:
Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs)
Common Service Centers (CSCs)
Krishi Sakhis
Government-organised village camps
This approach ensures that no farmer is left behind in the digital transition.
Experts believe that Kisan ID is creating a unified digital platform that simplifies how farmers interact with government schemes. It ensures:
Faster delivery of benefits
Direct transfer of funds
Reduced corruption and delays
Better transparency in procurement and payments
This initiative is expected to play a key role in improving farmers’ income and strengthening the agricultural ecosystem.

The rollout of Kisan ID to over 9.2 crore farmers marks a major step towards building a digitally empowered agriculture sector in India. By connecting farmers to multiple schemes through a single platform, the government is ensuring that benefits reach the right people quickly and transparently. With its inclusive approach and real-world success in states, Kisan ID is set to transform how farmers access financial support and services in the coming years.
