Farmers across India have received a major boost as the central government has approved the procurement of six key crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Kharif 2025–26 marketing year. This decision will provide a direct financial benefit of ₹13,890.60 crore to farmers, with Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat getting maximum coverage.

Tur (Pigeon Pea)
Urad (Black Gram)
Moong (Green Gram)
Sesame (Til)
Groundnut
Soybean
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the announcement during a high-level virtual meeting with state agriculture ministers and officials.
The government has allowed 100% procurement of tur and urad in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Farmers in these states will now be able to sell their crops directly at government procurement centres at MSP, ensuring better prices and timely payments.

A total of 350 procurement centres will be set up across the state, giving farmers easy access to sell their produce at MSP.

The purchase of such a large quantity of groundnuts is being seen as historic relief for Gujarat farmers. Around 400 procurement centres will be established across the state.
The Agriculture Minister has directed that the procurement process should be completely transparent, digital, and secure to prevent middlemen from taking advantage.

Registration is only for genuine farmers who have cultivated pulses and oilseeds.
Purchases through the e-Samriddhi and e-Samyuti portals.

The minister also stated that the procurement quantities can be revised later based on advanced production estimates. This ensures that no eligible farmer is left out and everyone gets full MSP benefits.
This initiative is expected to provide a significant income boost to millions of farmers. With growing demand for pulses and oilseeds, direct purchase at MSP will help farmers get fair prices and reduce dependency on middlemen.
