APEDA hosts Mango Festival in UAE to boost Indian mango exports, showcasing premium varieties and supporting farmers.

Key Highlights

In a major effort to promote Indian mangoes in global markets, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce, organized the Indian Mango Mania 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

The colourful mango festival was held at LuLu Hypermarket in Khalidiyah Mall and was aimed at showcasing India’s diverse mango varieties to the Gulf region, where Indian fruits enjoy a strong and growing demand.

UAE: A Leading Market for Indian Mangoes

The United Arab Emirates continues to be the largest importer of Indian mangoes. In 2024, India exported over 12,000 metric tonnes of mangoes worth $20 million to the UAE. With initiatives like Mango Mania 2025, this figure is expected to grow further in 2025.

Rich Display of India’s Best Mango Varieties

The festival highlighted some of India’s most iconic mango types, including GI-tagged and region-specific varieties such as:

These mangoes represent the rich agricultural heritage of states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh.

Event Inauguration and Diplomatic Support

India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, inaugurated the event along with Lulu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali M.A., APEDA officials, and representatives from the Indian Embassy.

Sunjay Sudhir praised Lulu Group’s contribution in promoting Indian fruits globally and applauded APEDA’s consistent efforts in boosting agricultural exports. He said,

APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev shared a message from India, highlighting how the festival is not only a celebration but also a trade enabler. He stated:

He also noted that APEDA facilitated airlifting mangoes from major producing states, directly supporting Indian farmers and helping them access international markets.
