India is set to host the 2025 Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC), a major event that will showcase the nation’s growing leadership in the global rice market. The conference will be held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on October 30–31, 2025.
The BIRC 2025 will bring together top industry leaders, exporters, government officials, and international buyers. The event aims to strengthen trade partnerships and boost India’s rice export potential, as the country continues to hold its position as the world’s largest rice producer and exporter.
During the 2024–25 fiscal year, India’s rice exports were valued at around USD 12.95 billion, reflecting its strong performance in global markets.
The Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) is leading the event’s organization, with co-partners including The Rice Exporters Association, Chhattisgarh (TREA-CG) and The Rice Exporters Association (TREA), Kakinada.
These organizations are independently managing all conference activities—covering venue arrangements, hosting of international buyers, and event logistics—through their own funds and private sponsorships, without any financial support from the government.
The Government of India is providing non-financial assistance through the Department of Commerce and other concerned ministries, reaffirming its commitment to participatory decision-making and the promotion of agricultural trade.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is playing a key facilitation role by coordinating with multiple government departments. This ensures a holistic and collaborative approach to promoting and expanding India’s rice exports through BIRC 2025.
The conference will include a range of engaging activities such as:
Exhibitions showcasing India’s rice varieties and processing technologies.
Buyer-seller meetings to foster international trade opportunities.
Technical sessions discussing innovation, sustainability, and market trends in rice production and export.
These sessions are expected to help strengthen India’s presence in international rice markets while opening doors for new global partnerships.
Amid recent media reports, the Department of Commerce clarified that it has no role in appointing members or leadership of the IREF. Such matters are internal to the private trade body and remain outside the government’s jurisdiction.
The Bharat International Rice Conference 2025 is expected to serve as a key platform for India’s rice industry to connect with global buyers, showcase product diversity, and explore emerging trade opportunities.
By bringing together exporters, policymakers, and international stakeholders under one roof, BIRC 2025 will further enhance India’s reputation as a trusted and dominant player in the global rice market.
The Bharat International Rice Conference 2025 will mark a major step in strengthening India’s global rice trade presence. Bringing together exporters, policymakers, and buyers, it aims to create new business opportunities and highlight India’s leadership in rice production and exports. With strong industry participation and government support, the event is set to position India as a key force in the international rice market.
