Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan is set to celebrate its 263rd foundation day in a grand manner with the Guava Festival and Advanced Agricultural Technology Fair 2026. The two-day festival will be held on January 18 and 19, 2026, at the Dussehra Ground under the district’s “Panch Gaurav Abhiyan”. The main aim of the event is to strengthen the agricultural identity of the district, empower farmers, and promote farming as a profitable business.
The festival is being organised under the guidance of Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, and more than 10,000 farmers from Sawai Madhopur and nearby districts are expected to attend each day.
District Collector Kana Ram said that guava farming in Sawai Madhopur has moved beyond traditional agriculture and has emerged as a strong commercial sector. At present, around 20,000 farmers are cultivating guava across nearly 15,000 hectares of land in the district.
This cultivation produces about 4 lakh metric tonnes of guava every year, with an estimated market value of nearly ₹600 crore. Due to high demand and good market prices, guava has become a reliable source of income for farmers. The Guava Festival is being organised to further boost these opportunities and help Sawai Madhopur’s guava gain national and global recognition.
More than 150 stalls will be set up at the Dussehra Ground during the festival. These stalls will display improved guava varieties, value-added and processed products, and high-quality plants. Farmers will also get practical knowledge about modern farming techniques.
The fair will feature smart farming models, high-tech horticulture, organic and natural farming practices, live demonstrations of farm mechanisation, and advanced agricultural equipment. The district’s best guava-producing farmers will be honoured, and farmers will get a chance to directly interact with agricultural startups and scientists to resolve their issues on the spot.
To give the festival wider recognition, scientists and experts from leading national institutions will take part. These include ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, APEDA, CIPHET Ludhiana, CISH Lucknow, and Hisar Agricultural University. Experts will guide farmers on advanced production methods, processing techniques, and better marketing strategies.
The Guava Festival is part of a three-day celebration marking the foundation day of Sawai Madhopur. Several cultural, religious, and sports activities are planned across the district.
January 17: Maha Aarti of Trinetra Ganesh Bhagwan at Ranthambore Fort, photography exhibition and live art camp at Dussehra Ground, traditional games, puppet show, and Deepdan at Rameshwar Ghat, Khandar.
January 18: Nature walk, football match at Police Line, inauguration of the Guava Festival at Dussehra Ground, wrestling competition, and an evening Rajasthani cultural programme.
January 19: Garland offering to the statue of Sawai Madho Singh I, city procession, ‘Know Sawai Madhopur’ quiz competition, and a grand musical night in the evening.
The district administration believes that the Guava Festival 2026 will not only connect farmers with modern agricultural technologies but will also strengthen the agricultural, cultural, and tourism identity of Sawai Madhopur. District Collector Kana Ram has urged farmers, local residents, and tourists to participate in large numbers and support the district in creating a new and stronger identity at the national level.
The Guava Festival 2026 marks an important step in strengthening Sawai Madhopur’s agricultural and cultural identity. By bringing farmers, scientists, startups, and institutions together, the festival will promote modern farming, value addition, and better market access. Along with foundation day celebrations, the event is expected to boost farmer income, encourage innovation, and position the district as a leading hub for commercial guava cultivation.
