Bihar to run Revenue Maha-Abhiyan from 16 Aug to 20 Sep, fixing land records, easing ownership transfers, and helping farmers access schemes like PM-Kisan benefits.

Key Highlights

The Revenue and Land Reforms Department of Bihar is set to begin a statewide “Revenue Maha-Abhiyan” from 16 August to 20 September 2025. This special drive will reach every village to help farmers update and correct their land documents, a move expected to benefit lakhs of people, especially those facing issues in receiving government scheme benefits like the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

PM-Kisan Installment Highlights

Recently, the 20th installment of PM-Kisan Yojana was released from Varanasi, transferring over ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers across India, with each farmer getting ₹2,000. However, many farmers have not received their payment due to unverified land documents (land seeding). This campaign aims to solve such issues.

Key Focus of the Revenue Maha-Abhiyan

Door-to-Door Service and Panchayat-Level Camps

The Revenue Department teams will visit villages, distribute forms, and guide people on document submission. To avoid unnecessary travel for citizens, two camps will be organised at each Halka or Panchayat level, spaced a week apart.

In these camps:

Local leaders including Mukhiya, Ward Members, Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, Panchayat Samiti Members, and District Council Members will actively participate. The Agriculture Department has also been asked to involve agricultural advisors.

Special Arrangements for Flood-Affected Areas

Around 10% of Bihar’s panchayats are flood-affected. Camps in these areas will be held once conditions improve, and dates will be announced in advance. If required, camps may extend beyond 20 September for such regions.

Relief for Farmers Without Death Certificates

For families whose land is still in the name of their grandfather or great-grandfather and who lack a death certificate, the Sarpanch-prepared genealogy will now be accepted as valid proof, making the process easier.

Impact on Farmers

This initiative will help farmers correct land records, speed up ownership transfers, and ensure smooth access to benefits like PM-Kisan payments. Farmers who missed earlier land surveys now have a golden chance to fix their documents without running from one office to another.
