71,992 tractors sold in May 2025. Mahindra leads, Swaraj follows. TAFE drops, Escorts and Sonalika show growth.

Key Highlights:

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the retail tractor sales data for May 2025. According to the report, a total of 71,992 tractors were sold across India, compared to 70,063 units in May 2024, marking a steady year-on-year growth in the sector.

This data is compiled in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and is based on registration details from 1,385 out of 1,445 RTOs across India. However, data from Telangana has not been included.

Brand-Wise Analysis

Mahindra & Mahindra (Tractor Division)

Mahindra continued to lead the market with 16,511 units sold, growing its market share to 22.93% from 22.72% last year. It remains the top tractor brand in India.

Mahindra Swaraj Division

Swaraj maintained second place with 13,643 units sold, slightly improving from 13,101 units in May 2024. Its market share rose to 18.95%.

Sonalika (International Tractors Ltd)

Sonalika secured third place with 9,620 units, gaining a 13.36% market share, up from 13.17% in May 2024.

Escorts Kubota Ltd

Escorts Kubota showed solid growth, selling 8,161 tractors and increasing its market share to 11.34%, compared to 10.93% last year.

TAFE Ltd (Massey Ferguson)

TAFE faced a decline, selling 7,502 units, down from 8,516 units in May 2024. Its market share dropped to 10.42% from 12.15%.

John Deere India

John Deere reported 5,924 unit sales, improving from 5,130 units last year. Its market share rose to 8.23% from 7.32%.

Eicher Tractors

Eicher saw a decline in sales with 4,311 units, compared to 4,465 units in May 2024. Its market share dropped to 5.99% from 6.37%.

CNH Industrial (New Holland)

CNH sold 3,051 units, slightly up from 2,897 units last year, resulting in a steady 4.24% market share.

Kubota Agricultural Machinery

Kubota witnessed a sharp decline with only 797 units sold, dropping its share to 1.11% from 1.65% in May 2024.

Other Brands

Other brands collectively sold 2,472 units, improving their market share to 3.43% from 2.84%.

The tractor industry saw steady growth in May 2025, with nearly 2,000 more units sold than in the same month last year. Mahindra & Mahindra continued to dominate with a strong lead across both its divisions. Brands like Sonalika, Escorts, and John Deere showed good performance, while TAFE and Kubota faced challenges.
