Escorts Kubota Limited is set to make a massive investment of ₹4,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh by building a new tractor manufacturing unit along the Yamuna Expressway. The project will not only strengthen India’s position in the global farm equipment market but also create thousands of new jobs.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is preparing to allot 190 acres of land in Sector 10 to Escorts Kubota. This land will be used to set up a modern tractor manufacturing facility with advanced technology.
The Uttar Pradesh government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Escorts Kubota on August 17, 2024, to support the project. As part of this agreement, the company will invest ₹4,500 crore and generate around 4,000 jobs in a phased manner.
According to YEIDA officials, the proposed plant will be a greenfield facility, aimed at boosting manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Escorts Kubota also plans to establish shared services in India to support Kubota’s global research and development (R&D) operations.
YEIDA OSD Shailendra Bhatia confirmed that in the first phase, the company will invest ₹2,000 crore to set up the tractor plant, a commercial equipment unit, and supporting infrastructure. The second phase of investment will be planned depending on market demand and the full use of the first-phase capacity.
Escorts Kubota, a joint venture formed in 2019 between India’s Escorts and Japan’s Kubota, focuses on building affordable and high-quality tractors for both Indian farmers and international markets.
With this new plant, the company aims to position India as a global hub for tractors, engines, and farm equipment as well as construction equipment manufacturing.
Officials have highlighted that this investment reflects growing trust in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial policies and the transparent process of land allocation. The final land allotment will take place after approval from the Invest UP Empowered Committee and completion of regulatory formalities.
This project is expected to play a crucial role in driving industrial growth, generating employment, and making India a stronger player in the global agricultural machinery market.
